I have a 2012 Sym Fiddle ii 125 that was sitting for a couple years. I recently got the scooter running with a new battery however the overflow valve on the carb was spitting out gas immediately.
After a carb clean, checking the input of fuel into the carb via the drain line, checking the fuel line into the carb, new spark plug, new fuel, I cannot get the bike to turn over. I am trying a compression test today after work as a next step.
What I can't understand is why the scooter fired up before the carb clean with what seemed to be blocked valves and floats but won't anymore. Has anyone seen this before?
Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Electric or kick? Do you have spark? Did compression feel low after you tried starting it again? Is it just not starting, or locked up and wont turn?
The fuel overflowing is the float height being too high. Could have fouled the plug. If you adjusted the valves and everything, its definitely the float or needle valve. Either the float is too high and letting too much fuel in too quickly, or the needle valve is stuck open and needs to be cleaned out

I've tried electric and kick, now it will turn over for 1 second or so like it's catching then won't stay on. I checked spark on a new plug, looks good, the compression test held above 100psi.
I cleaned the needle valve but will take it apart again today and see if it wasn't cleaned well enough. Will keep you posted.

the bowl float was worn out. I noticed when i compared to a newer carb. The scooter started right up last night. Appreciate the assistance.

You know, I was thinking about the bowl having a hole in it or something like that, but i didn't wanna jump to that cause its such a far off problem compared to normal stuff that makes a scooter not start. Glad you got it running though!
