Hi again guys . I just got my new CDI box after waiting over a week for it and I plugged it in and burnt the fuse for it right when I tried starting it . My scooter is a 2 stroke with a DC 6 pin CDI with no rev limiter I believe stock. I got a new DC yellow CDI with no rev limit and adjustable ignition timing . The timing is why i wanted to for fine tuning . Here is the I don't know why it don't work and blows the fuse ? They look the same accept the yellow is a little longer and the plugs fit perfect . Do some CDIs need to be rewired ? If so can I get some help with it please . I will do my best with photos to show them both and the wiring .. Moved CDI from under the rear cargo area which was extremely hard to get to ,to a more accessible location making timing adjustments easier .(if the CDI works ) photos.app.goo.gl/VgrbL8nxBUd4NNUv6STOCK CDI: photos.app.goo.gl/w745gaExQeRPGXbg7photos.app.goo.gl/M2s7S624P2bYVAf2ANEW CDI: photos.app.goo.gl/TMH5A8URTwMNtAPq7photos.app.goo.gl/qMMJgxgubZ6t7bga8SCOOTER CDI WIRING (ONLY 4 WIRES ON THE 6 PIN ) photos.app.goo.gl/1ZjXGJZBjgCuqjLe6photos.app.goo.gl/vz8B91kuCu9csJbL8Hope those photos help explain the issue. So question is . Can I rewire it ? Or is it totally the wrong one ? If so any idea which I can order that has the timing adjustments with no rev limiter ? As always thank you in advance because I would be lost without you guys . Dave

I have always heard rewiring a CDI was basically impossible. Ive also been told (and can say from experience) that the performance CDI's really dont do as much as you would hope. The adjustable timing is an interesting concept, but outside of actually racing this bike I dont think the headache is worth the trouble.
I would stick with the stock CDI

No it's not impossible, but it is possible that you put an AC fired CDI onto a DC fired setup and blew the fuse.
You need to check the pinouts for both, when you go willy nilly plugging stuff in without confirmation that it is correct, this is what you get. Also confirm the part number on the new one that it is indeed a DC CDI unit.
The plugs may match but I have seen both AC and DC fired units with those same plugs.
I have swapped AC and DC fired CDI units before it is not hard at all, but you need to know what wires are doing what, draw a little map out on paper.

The new one i ordered is DC and i was pretty sure the old one was DC. Headlights and everything comes on when i turn the key on and it looks totally different from the previous AC boxes i have used before. But seeing everything else on this scooter is odd im sure the CDI box could be strange as well.after looking more the old im i am almost positive is also DC. So why would it be different ? totally boggles me and if both are DC i imagine it should be the wires are just located different because there is only Input from trigger,Ignition coil positive,Ground,12 volt power and 12 volt power switched .And im only using 4 wires out of the 6 . I am just uncertain which is which.Anyone done this before as far as needing to swap wires where 2 DC cdi boxes have same pin out but different wiring? And to answer the question about using the stock CDI yes it works fine but i already have the new one here so id like to use it if possible.

Thank you I'll look into that thread . Seems like my same issue where I'm blowing fuses if I plug but in seeing the ground is backwards.

You may be using 12+volt#1 ignition#2 trigger#3 and Ground #4 and run your scoot with out hooking up the kill wire and second ground wire.
