First let me say how gratified I am to have found a portal that appear welcoming to the complete novice and not the least patronizing.
I recently acquired a new 49cc Coleman Powersport JL50QT-14. After filling with petro and a starting attempt, the fuel poured out of the bottom like a mini-Tsunami. Question is there anything I might discover after removing the seat (per U Tube) before I call in an approved dealer. I did pear under the scooter and noticed the fuel filter appears completely dry, Any chance I can access the fuel line and adjust it without major surgery? Sure appreciate any suggestions or possible solutions.

Take off the seats and the plastics Follow the fuel line down from the tank to the carb . Look for leaks when you get to the carb check for a float bowl leak.

Welcome to the forum Grizz. If petrol is coming out that fast. It must be quite noticeable where it's from. If you can get the panels off. Check the pipes from the tank. If the tank is dry, it could be coming from the petcock. Was it running when you purchased it? Good luck

I must say I hadn't expected so quick a response (I've come to the right place). The scoot arrived in an iron cage and I'd only "uncaged" it a few days ago. So it's never run at this point. I was afraid I'd punctured something in the unpacking (as if that's possible) or in shipping something misaligned. As a newbie you think all kinds of things. So to the extent I can follow you all's directions I will get on it sometime this morn. If need be, I'll post pix if I may. Thanks to you all. Will get back later today.

Oh for Pete's Sake! Even I can tell what the culprit is. The line (fuel) passes through the filter a ways and then just hangs. (I adjusted it for display) There is the clamp, at least that. Seems the filter has dislodged from the holding"cage", indicating the line was somehow pulled or dislodged either at factory or in transit. That be as it may, what remains is connecting the line to where it belongs, which means I again must call on your experience and generosity.

See that black lump on the side of the carb. That is the enrichment valve, an alternate 'choke' for cold starting. Right below and to the rear slightly is the fuel inlet nipple. Connect the fuel line there. They must have disconnected it to drain any fuel for shipment. Look up the manuals link and find a service manual for the engine. www.49ccscoot.com/manuals/manuals.html

What a wealth of information. Wonder if I had known all pertinent info would I have proceeded. It may interest you all to know that the moment I registered the fuel fiasco with the supplier, I was immediately granted a complete refund and told to keep the scoot! Hope that's not a sign of things to come even given that it is a Chinese make. In any event I'll have toy to play with and I thank each of you for your gracious input.

This is the advert I responded to. Must admit when I called to report the fuel splash I only wanted to arrange a means of locating a dealer where I could have the matter attended to. Before I could get the words out, I was almost harangued into accepting the refund. Funny, being an utter newbie, there was a slight disappointment: I was getting my money back but I was still stuck with a problematic scoot. Anyway, I Was told it would take 3-5 business days for the refund. It took about an hour. What do you guys make of all this? A further point of interest: Immediately after I purchased it, it became "currently unavailable"

Perhaps they have had problems with this model. Either way, you can't lose now 😁

Upgrade!! Ya kiddin' me! Just acquiring this puppy is an upgrade from my electric scooter! Here you guys are pretty much accomplished enthusiast who'd love to be in my position able to jazz up your scoot. I'm a guy who just yesterday discovered the fuel inlet on the carb and presently trying to con-jigger a way to connect the line without removing a side panel. I've never ever riddin' a scoot! I see you guys zooming around and sharing all the jargon and minutia and my head spins. I damn sure don't feel lucky. I'd trade that thousand bucks (complete assembly and delivery) and my right toe to trade places for all your knowledge and experiences and just a moderately percolatin' scoot (turned 72 just days ago! Of course, I'm joshing (a bit). I've been blessed in ways too many to count. But this sure underscores something ironic about life. One man's fortune is...you know what I mean. But I'll wager that refund that not a man here would trade any amount of money for the joy and camaraderie you folks share doing something that you really love.
