Hey all, like the title says, just picked up a used zuma to run around with in Colorado. It has a fly exhaust on it and was wondering what else I could check to see if it's been modded. I see alot of exhausts come with clutch parts as well.
2nd question is are any mod worth keeping if I just want an old trusty rig to scoot around on?
Thank for the help,
LT

Well i will tell you this throw that exhaust right in the trash can they are complete junk. Skip to 3:00 mark they will review your fly pipe.

cast iron sport 70 cc kit is a Big up grade over stock . Malossi, polini, Top performance trophy are all very reliable. You increase power top to bottom and Pick a few mph up top.
Which year zuma do you have the 2002-2005 Have adjustable carb and a cat free pipe . These usually do just under 40 mph stock The gears hold it back.
2008 -2011 Non adjustable needle in the carb and have a catalytic converter stock pipe that has to be replaced. The Gears are better . These tend to do a notch over 40

They are heavier than other 50 ccs by 10-20 lbs at 208 lbs . The stock gearing is 14.66 to 13.3 to keep the speed down . The Yamaha Aerox overseas have 12.2 gears and run 10 mph stock
The Stock exhaust is all done at just over 8000 rpms . The carb is on the small side at 14mm and under jetted for any performance mods
The biggest plus is the engine is very solid and will run thousands of miles .
You can reduce weight by 5-10 lbs by just swapping exhaust . And pick up horsepower . Increase the gear ratio by either swapping in 11 to 1 gears or getting a aftermarket variator. If you get gears you need to get a bbk to push them out fully.

It's an 08 and u can tell someone enjoyed it. North of 6k miles and they did the duel headlight mod, exhaust, etc (I took off the duel headlight mod, battery was DOA and I really just want a dirty commuter)
I live on base and my job is less than 5 miles away. I own 2x 1 ton long beds, so the Zuma seems to be a good answer for commuting.
I sink enough money into other things, I really want this to just be an ol faithful scooter that gets me to work or the gym.
I'm sure the pup is crap, but does it affect it's reliability? If so I'll swap it, if not I'll ride my rice rocket until the cows come home.
With that being said, I'm at altitude and there are some good hills here, so I may be on here asking for performance upgrades after I take it on a few test spins lol
