New GY6 engine out of the box. This split line is coming out of the area near the intake manifold. The old engine I threw away did not have this. I think its a vacuum line, but I have the fuel pump connected to one vacuum line already and it works fine. What would attach to it, and should I cap it?

If you don't need them cap the vacuum lines.
If I remember right a 50cc only needs one vac line that either controls the petcock for gravity fed fuel systems or powers the vacuum fuel pump on a fuel tank below the carb.

I thought the pumps were 'pulse' operated by the pressure developed in the crankcase as the piston oscillates. I know I have one that has a pump from the under-foot tank to the carburetor, but don't remember if it goes to the vacuum port on the intake or to a port on the crankcase... Duh. The Y-pipe fitting shown is likely for PAIR and vapor recovery systems. If you don't have either or any emissions equipment that needs vacuum, plug that line, or place a cap on the fitting down at the intake elbow. Caps are available at auto parts stores, likely in the HELP section or possibly the windshield washer parts, etc. tom

The pump operates from a pulsed vacuum source, usually the intake manifold. I suppose a crankcase port could be used...

It looks like your carb to intake manifold clamp may not be fitted properly.
How did a new engine get so dirty looking?

To my knowledge it appears that one line goes to the petcock and the other may go to the PAIR system.
