bought an eton beamer ii from a college student. non-running of course. thought it would be simple but. of course he didnt know it had a 70cc kit on it...had 90psi but crank/bearings whatever went bad.
I actually did drive it down the street, only got to 20mph and blew tons of smoke and had lots of resistance.
Anyway. anyone know what brand this cylinder is and if its possibly usable somehow? I tried to get a picture of some scoring on the piston. theres something real slight on the cylinder too but hard to tell/see in my pictures i'm realizing.

Cant help identifying the cylinder . That exhaust port looks like it is destined to catch a ring . Is the cylinder head good if you could pick up the Naraku kit . That will bring that scoot back to life with some power.

Looking at the scuffs on the piston and ex port wear,I'd say the piston was installed backwards..Only part worth keeping is the head as Zino said...

Thanks for info.
After taking the piston and head off there was still some resistance moving the crank. But I don't totally know how to tell when crank or bearings are bad. Im not sure its 100% toast but I figured this is a good opportunity to put the genuine roughhouse 50 engine onto something.
I think some big chunks of dirt got in (airbox was broken/hanging from carb) and caused the damage. If my first action on bringing home was to take the top end off and clean everything out i think it could have been ok.

The piston has an arrow cast into the its top, that points toward the exhaust port..The ring locating pins are always away from the exhaust port..If the piston is installed backwards, the piston ring locating pins are in the exhaust port area, that allows the ring gaps to expand and scrape inside that port, cutting deep ridges in that area,it self destructs in short order because the installer wasnt sharp enough to know up from down!!Tools should be taken away from that installer and send him to a covid infested bar room!!

The arrow on this piston actually points up and not toward the exhaust port. So that can't have helped.

I think partsforscooters sells discounted pistons with arrows pointing the wrong way. Not that I'm currently aware of. We may have had a bad batch a while ago, as it happens, but nothing that I can think of recently. Matt

To be honest I installed a piston upside down, the engine would run but only for a few seconds,in my defence I have no training or 2stroke buddies to shoot the breeze with and I totally missed the instruction in the Haynes manual to any newbies fitting a piston logic suggests that the arrow should point upwards,I am sure there will other "fools" sat at that bar with me Geoff
