Did you put in a new bearing ? Most kits dont come with them . I had the wrong size for my build installed and wow it made alot worse rattle than yours did . It had just a touch of movement but at 1000's of rpms it made quite a rattle I also was lower on power than a bbk puts out . If you cant feel the scratches with a fingernail you are okay. You could just clean it up with a scotch brite pad and WD40.
You have room to bring your cylinder up. By getting a thicker base gasket . Ideally You want to be below the exhaust port and even with transfer ports next to the exhaust port to maximize flow and have your squish in that .7 to 1 range .

Yeah, used a new Polini 10x14x13 soaked overnight in 2T oil, I ordered 2 so have one more on hand. Possible to reuse circlip if I can get it out w/o bending it? All scootertuning has are Malossi c-clips, partsforscooters only has "universal".
Fingernail doesn't catch them, so not gonna worry about it
I had 2 gasket kits. I used a new kit after breaking the stud. The other base gasket is a little wavy but not kinked. Should be safe to reuse, it'll drop the piston down 0.22mm, and bring squish to .88mm.
Now that i'm not rushing to pull it apart on my lunch break to take pics, I noticed the exhaust gasket isn't centered on the pipe sticking into the passage by 0.5-1 mm. So that's not helping my situation either.

That is a quality bearing . I would not think that is the problem then.
Scooter Therapy In Madison Wi probably has some g clips in stock that you can pick up. Yamaha and Honda dealers often have them in stock also. They are a genuine scooter dealer which runs the same minarelli motor as your eton.
You could try the Thicker base gasket to see if loosening up on your squish helps.

I wouldn't be able to make it to scooter therapy during the work week. I did try the honda powersports dealer in Beloit and was greeted w/ attitude, dude didn't even bother seeing if he could get the clips from another dealer. Luckily scootertuning got some g-clips in this morning so snatched some of those up along w/ more spare parts.

Another example of a dealership that doesnt want business . I found my local yamaha and honda dealer very helpful.
You may not need the extra clips but just in case.
I dont like those scratches with just that few of miles . I have a stock bore that has thousands of miles on it and a malossi cast with thousands of miles on it that looks alot cleaner . Check the piston and the rings just to make sure something is not lined up right or if you have marks from seizing

Wow something has really chewed up that piston . That center boost port looks rough on the cylinder Like some metal was tore off
Did you chamfer all the ports with a file to knock off the sharp edges .
You my have been catching a ring.
When I had the wrong bearing size I had side to side play.

It seems to be a common theme around here that's why I only like dealing w/ Napa all the other parts store are either a-holes or dumb teens that think they should be making 60k/yr, but I'm sure scootertuning appreciates it though.
None of them I could feel w/ my fingernail. My stock cylinder w/ 2600 miles has a lot more scratches, but none that I could catch my nail on.

I checked the stock piston it has the same play in the wrist pin bearing. Only did the exhaust outlet b/c I could feel a lip, but i'll try to track down some precision files and clean it up before reassembly. Figured it'd be ok since nothing caught when I was turning it over by hand.

It all looks good to me,if you want to chamfer the ports bit more,Harbor Freight as needle files for dirt cheap..

Button it back up . Make sure the rings are aligned right ,squish is more generous leave the wrist pin and clips intact Just lightly chamfer the ports . Since the grooves you cant feel with your fingernail they just might be wear spots and from the photo they may look worse to me . I took a picture of mine and it does magnify the lines a little bit with the flash .
You had power before so that is a good sign.

LOL totally forgot we have a Harbor Freight in town, will swing by and grab a set after work. I'll throw it back together tonight hopefully increasing the squish will solve some or all of my issues. I also need to figure out what I need to do to the pipe to get it lined up correctly was thinking of grabbing something that fit inside the pipe so I can line it up and mark where the nuts should sit on the flange.

From the looks of it they put the flange on wrong the header needs to go more counter-clockwise which will mean the muffler will be rubbing against the tire.
