New newbie here, first post. I bought a 49cc scooter more or less on a whim. Afterwards realized I didn't ask whether it's 2-stroke or 4-stroke. It should be delivered in a day or two. The seller lives in my town and said he'd deliver it.
I have questions: I see similar scooters with 150-250cc motors. How involved is the process of changing 49cc for 250cc?
The seller runs a Subaru dealership. The scooters are in one room in the back of the garage. He has the 49cc in red, black or hunter orange. I've owned several motorcycles over the years. My favorite was a Honda XL 250. It had enough power to handle highway traffic.
In this state the 49cc is treated like a bicycle. That is, stay to the right but not allowed on interstates. But no plates or motorcycle license required.
I recently retired. My hobby was restoring 1960's VW beetles. I've owned over a dozen plus two VW vans and one 1

If you want a bigger scooter its cheaper and easier to just get one. A good Japanese, Italian or even Taiwanese 150 is adequate but a 200-300 would be better. Since you wrench look on Craiglist for a Honda or Piaggio-Vespa that needs some work You'll be happier than on a Chinese 50cc 4poke. let us know if you have any questions.

If your goal is highway capability, then I agree with pinkscoot that it's much easier to get a scooter that starts out being highway capable. Also less legal issues to worry about that way. If you just want to hot rod a scooter, that's a different story. In that case, it can be done with some fabrication skill but should be looked at as a hobby or hot rod more than sensible transportation IMO. Most likely you've got a 4T. You can still add a big bore kit. The 72cc (47mm bore) is a nice increase in power without necessarily a huge hit in reliability. Not at all highway capable, but great for around town and back roads and such. As always, stock and low HP puts the less stress on the system and usually wins for reliability so it all depends on what you really want from your new scoot.

Just take it easy if you have not ridden a two wheeler for a while. Enjoy it. 😁

In the past I had a Honda SL 100 then a Honda XL 250 then a Suzuki 650 then a Kawasaki. Not sure what size or age. I recall the kick starter was on the opposite side of standard bikes. Had to get off the bike so I could start it with my left leg.

Went for an hour's ride. Glanced at the speedometer and saw 60, thought no way this is 60mph then realized it was kph. 60 kph is 38mph. Still not bad for a 49cc motor.

Consider an oil change to flush out the metallic glitter. Walmart 15W-40 works fine. Avoid wasting your money on a "performance" CDI and ignition coil . . and big bore kits enhance the odds of connecting rod and crankshaft bearing failure. If the engine becomes hard to start . . check valve clearance.

That appears to be an Icebear Vision PMZ50-17 from the looks of it. I've never seen Icebear's manuals, but Chinese scooter companies tend to be pretty vague when it comes to the literature. I would recommend watching as many videos on youtube, reading up on the guides here, and asking questions. That's what I've been doing as well. You'll learn a lot more than the manual can teach and you'll pick it up really quickly.
Most importantly enjoy the ride and have fun! ☺️

Thanks, This is the pamphlet that came with it. I found the same thing in much better English in the Tautau Manuals section.

Funny how that happens, right? I've got 3 different technical manuals for my RT-50. All of them have varying degrees of detail. Sometimes you have to cobble different pieces of literature to get a complete picture.
