This is going to be a read..
I have solid mechanical skills.
I've been looking for some 49cc rippers for up at the cabin for while... just lookin for non running garage finds... never lookin to hard turns out a co worker had some... now I have some...
2003 Wildfire WF50-S2 139qmb
2006 Motofino MF50QT-7 139qmb
Motofino ran when I picked them up.. sort of..
Wildfire look to be sitting awhile... great shape for garage finds... some cracked panels but complete..
Here we go..
For both..
Give them general carb clean.. new gas.. sparkplugs and fire them up.
Both for the most part same results.. sluggish take off... slow shift... top out about 29 flat road.. down to 18-20 up decent hill...
So I say not bad for couple minutes work..
Get serious time...
Because of the cheap price of parts I bought all kinds of things..
Bought.. PUCKY GY6 50cc Carburetor for GY6 50cc Four Stroke
Watched a ton of videos from here...
Ordered new plugs coils cdi all factory for starters
I put the new carb on the wildfire.. set float.. set idle.. new belt gates powerline
And Dr. PULLY 4.5G sliding weights...
Re scuff pulleys. Clean case..
Take glaze off clutch shoes..
Give it a good going over... fuel lines filter.. oil change.. dif oil...
Rips... totally happy... it's a beast... revs up and accelerates hard... no tack but has to be about 9000rpm.
0-10 is fast
Starts to shift
No rpm drop at all
Just pulls
Flat ground 39 gps
Down hill. 48 gps
Going 39 then up a steep country hill maybe 100ft vertical over a distance of 150-200 yards
Slows to 32
So great for what I'm going to do... couldn't be happier..
Now here's the problem...
The Motofina
I'm hoping for same style results considering same drive train.. slight bigger bike..
No
I'm just going to explain everything I've checked or done then current results
Fresh gas
New fuel lines
Manual shut off
Drilled petcock
Eliminated vaccume hose to petcock and capped off
New carb
Clean air box
New plug
Coil
Cdi
Belt
Clutch shoes with red springs
De glazed all clutch surfaces and bell
Oil change
Dif oil change
Cleaned everything
Valve adjustment
It's a dog..
0-10 slow
Revs to 8000 with 5.5g rollers currently
When shifting drops to 6800 (factory tack) and never comes back
At the most 25-28 mph flat road
I'm to pissed to check
Up hill maybe 15-18 upshifts to about 7400
It is night and day to the wildfire
I've tried everything
I set float height... idle.. I've been thru main jets from 72 to 90..
I've adjusted the midrange needle thru all 5 adjustment..
I did valve adjustment properly..
I've been thru variator weights 4.5 5.5 6.5 7
8 9
4.5g sliders 8500rpm wont shift
Its night and day..
I've taken the whole clutch setup and carb of the wildfire and installed in motofina... no difference.. runs like a dog... swapped exhaust incase plugged... still a dog..
The wild fire you spread it on and it just revs to what sounds like about 9000 and just pulls...
No matter what I try with the motofina it's a slug..
Now I did small changes... ran 72jet take results 75jet. Take results... 78 jet.. and so on.. never really a big enough change to think I'm headed in the right direction.. same with the weights
Current best setup
78 main jet
Not sure pilot jet
3 notch on middle needle
5.5g rollers
Spark plug gap to .022
intake valve .004
Exhaust valve .005
Compression test 140
Left it for 20min
Still 140
Every thing free spins
Nothing dragging
I took basically everything off the wildfire that rips and swapped it onto the motofina.. without the motofina really respond at all..
I know for all the data junks I've been pretty fag but you have to believe me I did it right... with just piss poor results..
When I compare the 2..
It's like the motofina revs up and shifts slow then cant carry the load.
Can hear it when rev them up on a stand... wildfire just rips thru the shift
The motofina actually can hear it slow down while shifting then rev up with no load on it..
I'm just going to start with this...
But I need help... maybe I'm expecting something different... but I'd thing same drive train... same parts.. close results. But not even close..
