*sigh* Riding the Vino 125 over to Venice to grab my weekly sourdough loaf (there’s a woman over there that makes amazing bread). I was waiting to make a left onto a side street. Oncoming traffic was stopped, they saw me, and had left an opening. I waved thanks, and, as nobody was coming up the far right/parking lane, I started my turn. Suddenly I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. There was a car coming where there wasn’t one a split second ago! I jumped on my brakes, and slammed to a stop. But I was going just fast enough that the front slid out from under me. I doubt I was going 10mph, but it was enough. I went down hard on my left side, shoulder first. Helmet bonked the pavement as well. Full face helmet, gloves and long pants. Bike was still running, so I shut it off. Went to stand up, and I could feel it - collar bone. I did it before snowboarding 20+ years ago. Same collar bone in fact. Same kind of not-too-bad fall. But you know it when you’ve done it. The worst part - nothing to do about it. No cast. No pins or plates. Just waiting. And only sleeping on your back. Mostly it feels ok, right until you make some innocuous movement, and then you’re catching your breath from the pain. Aleve and sangria will do. Be careful out there kids!

Collar bones are an awful bone to break. Hopefully it will heal up fast.

Crashing sucks! I know it's not fun, but glad it's no worse than that. I doubt that anyone needs to tell you this, but just in case; even if it doesn't appear damaged it's time to replace your helmet.

Thanks guys. Appreciate it. I doubt that anyone needs to tell you this, but just in case; even if it doesn't appear damaged it's time to replace your helmet. Yeah, I know. That just pisses me off even more about the whole thing. Only just got back to real riding. Although I guess if I factor in that I’ve been riding off and on for 40 years and this is this first time I’ve put a bike down on the street, not a bad track record.
