Took the scooter out for a 6-hour run yesterday, traffic whizzing past me going 30mph. Doesn't handle steep hills too well. One it felt like I'd have to get off and push. The pamphlet says the helmet can be stored under the seat. I couldn't see a way to do it. But noticed two 10mm bolts rolling around in the compartment. And found a place near the back where the plastic is scored as if knurled washers had been there. Do I put the bolts there? I posted a photo of what I assume are the bolt holes.
TIA,
kevin

That should definitely have bolts in. These scooters tend to vibrate. So it would be a good idea to go round and check as many fasteners as you can.

Thanks, the bolts are back in with new washers. I checked all the other bolts for tightness.

It's good to keep some medium strength thread locker around. I don't usually have to use it on seat bolts, but I put it on a lot of other fasteners on the scoots. I wear an XXL helmet. I had to buy a huge 500cc scooter before finally finding one that actually fits my full face helmet under the seat. You can get trunks that are big enough though, or lock your helmet to the scoot.

I just moved here. I have blue thread locker buried somewhere in the piles of garage junk. A prefab garage was just delivered here so we're working on getting it insulated before the snow flies. How do you "lock your helmet to the scoot"? Mine's a solid piece of plastic with one fabric chin strap. Drill a hole and loop chain or cable through the frame? I found old washers in piles of garage junk and replaced the loose bolts. My wife mentioned hearing something rattling loose in scooter at the dealership. Maybe they were never put in in the first place. Thanks, kevin

I have seen full face helmets linked through the chain and lock, helmet theft is not a worry for me I just leave it on the seat or handlebars and hope the thought of head lice protects it.but I only leave the scoot to collect a newspaper if I am leaving the scoot parked the helmet goes with me.

How do you "lock your helmet to the scoot"? Mine's a solid piece of plastic with one fabric chin strap. Drill a hole and loop chain or cable through the frame? I'm only used to full face with D rings. With those, something can go through the helmet or through the D rings and then be secured with a lock or cable ran under the seat to a hook or something there. I wouldn't drill the helmet. Most of us would only find out the hard way if we compromised it that way. You'd need to see if there's anything that can't easily be removed or cut off without ruining the helmet/straps for something to go through.
