Well, today's the day! First time installing an exhaust pipe. Putting the Yasuni Z on the RT-50. I will post anything interesting here that I come across as I'm fiddling away.

The good folks at Adly saw fit to use a Mikuni branded carb on the RT-50. I honestly expected some weird no name generic. Well I do declare! Wonders never cease. Lol. Is it real? Is it a knock off? I'm sure I find out in just a bit.

The eton beamer, adly jet50 and United motors minarellis I've had came with mikuni carbs.

Right?! I was very surprised by that. I looked all over the net for a couple days to see if I could find out what was on there. I finally just had to crawl under it. Pretty happy about it.

I expected to see a restrictor in the flange of the old pipe, but that didn't seem to be the case. This thing was heavy as a friggin rock!

Pipe went in alright. Took a few tries and a bit of jiggling but it finally came together! I wasn't sure about looks since I was more concerned with function, but I really like it.

So, only two slight problems. 1. I had to take off back fender. Old pipe was part of its support and without the pipe, the fender was dragging on tire. Gonna roll by hardware store tomorrow and rig up a new support. 2. I'm a little uncomfortable with how close the silencer is to the carriage bolts. They aren't touching, but they are a little too close for comfort. Will see if I can add a spacer to the silencer brace that will give me a little more separation.

Alllllllrighty then! My nifty 50 is re-jetted and it FLIES! Original jet was a 75. I've upped to 82, so just a hair under 10%. I may go one step further to 84 to be on safe side. Holy crap! Have gone from 39 to ~47. Acceleration is still pretty much the same, but where the bike sounded like a weed whacker with the old pipe, it has a nice throaty rumble to it now. When I open it up, it absolutely screams. Doesn't really hit powerband until about 30, and then it really takes off. Exhaust is pretty high pitched when wide open. Not sure if that's just the pipe or if it's the lean whine that folks have told me about. I'm gonna upjet and one more time in the morning and make needle adjustment. Just wanna be on safe side. So far though, I am beyond happy with the upgrade. Big thank you and massive respect to Zino, wiscootsin, aeroxbud and everyone else for the advice.

Did you put in lighter weights and stiffer clutch springs in . That will make take off a alot more dirt bike revvy.

Like Zino said. It sounds like you need slightly lighter weights, and, or stiffer springs. I have 55% stiffer clutch springs with my Z.

Gonna sort out transmission tomorrow morning as soon as I feel good about the jetting. Taking it nice and slow. Wanna make sure I protect the motor before next adjust. But yes, once I'm all set, I will be working on weights and springs. Have a set of Polini tuning rollers from 4.5g - 6g, also have clutch spring kits with soft, med, and hard as well as white and yellow contra springs with torsion controller. Figure the Polini rollers will help get dialed in, and then I'll order permanent set at best weight. Anybody have opinion on sliders? I see a lot of mention online and YouTube. Do they make as big a difference as folks claim?

Smart move to make sure carb is right first I do prefer sliders Biggest difference is they dont wear as fast. Maybe extra mile up top . Just by the closest weight or a 1/4 gram higher if you buy sliders .
You want to pick weights that give you full belt travel and that hit a rpm when you hit the throttle wide open and then rise till you hit top speed . If they rise than fall on the way up your weights are either way too light or heavy.
The way I do it I take the lightest weights that give me highest speed and full belt travel That way I get best acceleration and Top speed.
As far as clutch springs you want them to be so when you hit the throttle you jump off the line if you roll slow for 20 feet and then pick up speed then go up a notch.
Contra just take the lightest contra that doesnt let the belt slip any more than that just adds extra heat and wear on the belts

It sounds like you feel the carb is close to correct once you get to WOT The carbs progression to WOT will not be able to be correctly tuned, until you have your CVT tuned to it's near optimum setup. The tune on the CVT and carb eventually converge to create your overall tune. A tuning change made at the CVT or the carb can easily affect each other. I love the look of those RT's

I upped the jet to 84 and now I thinks it's just about right. She fires up easy, purrs at idle and screams at WOT. Feeling pretty good about it now. Hit 45 today rolling into the wind with no trouble. Think I'm a call it good for now. Small setback on the transmission. The Adly manual from Bintelli said that the nuts holding the variator and the clutch bell are 10mm. This is not the case at all. Variator nut 14mm and the clutch bell significantly bigger >22mm, which is largest socket I have besides 38mm for clutch itself. I'm guessing 24 or 25 on the bell. Don't have anything that size. So I can't use my impact driver. Tried the wrench trick to loosen variator. Slipped and chipped a fan blade (dummy). Nothing major, but enough to convince me it's better to wait (cause I'm a dummy and I'll break it. Lol). So transmission is to be continued next week. Just not enough time to mess with today. Stoked about everything else working out so well. If I'm a little sluggish for a week, I can live with it. It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon and a scooter ride down by the beach to grab a cheeseburger sounds pretty awesome right now. Hope all of y'all are having a great weekend!
