When I removed mine. I just measured the thickness of the starting gear. Then added the same thickness of shims. You could also measure from the variator to the end of the crank, with the starting gear on. Then add shims to place the variator in the same spot, with the gear removed. If you are on about adding shims to the front for full travel at the back. You need to see where the belt sits.

On my zuma it was 2.5 mm I could have made anywhere between 2.5 and 3mm just my moving the shim from the fixed variator side to the backside of the moving half of the variator on the starter clutch side . The malossi variator gave me a 2 mm spacer I added some shims to get the rest. If you did not get this shim you can get some washers at a hardware store 1/2 inch is very close to 13mm I just measured like Aerox the thickness of the starter clutch bottom plate

kyle you wll rev up faster like you have lighter weights in since you have removed weight off the crank.
So you may find that you can run a notch higher weights than before the starter removal for the same shift point on the variator
