Hello all,
This is the follow up to last week's thread on installing the Yasuni Z on the Adly RT-50. It's been a week of running up and down the road and the Yasuni has more than done its job top speed is ~47-49. Pretty happy with it.
Today I'm putting together the CVT components to boost up the acceleration. Everything is a bit sluggish until I get to around 30. So I know my RPM are a bit low.

Alright! New bits and low torque impact gun did the trick. Everything looks pretty good in here. Nothing stripped out.

Looking at the variator, it doesn't seem like the belt is riding very high at all. Hmmm.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the stock variator boss is the culprit. Look at the end of this thing! Lol

Okay. So working with what I got, I added a Malossi torsion controller to the stock spring. That seemed to put just enough added tension. I have a yellow spring, but that is likely a bit too much. Put the grey (+20%) polini clutch springs on, and she runs pretty good.

did you get the acceleration you wanted ? Yes I did! It's not entirely perfect but I'm happy with it. She bogs ever so slightly off the line til about 4mph, then takes off with good low end torque. I don't feel like I'm holding people up at the light anymore.

Try the next stiffness of springs. I tried 15%, rubbish. The 35% which was quite an improvement. But the 55% was 👌. Is that GPS speed? My typhoon was topping out at 46mph, with the Z. Have not had time to look into it more. I had a similar restriction on my boss. It killed take off. And restricted top speed too!

47 according to speedo. Haven't done GPS yet, but that's next. I was pretty irritated about that boss discovery. Sneaky business, lol, but I get it. Ya gotta follow the rules if you wanna sell bikes. I'm planning to order a new boss, so I'll give the 35s a go, when I take everything apart again next week.
Oh forgot to mention that I switched rollers to 5.5 down from 6.5 (according to manual) at stock. Lost about 2 mph on the top according to speedo, but I'm not upset about it. Keeping up with traffic easy on the 45mph roads.
Overall I'm pretty happy. Still gotta do a couple tweaks here and there, but we are at a vast improvement over two weeks ago. I think the new boss will lead to further some improvement.
Will keep y'all posted.

Even more gains to come then. You Should be able to get the top speed without losing acceleration. Yeah I wasn't expecting to see that boss like that on mine either. The year before the ring was removable. Sneaky sneaky. I think it's part of Euro 4. They have to be harder to free up the potential.

I see upgraded variators in your future As do I! Lol! So I'm looking at the variator and the rear pulley. Now here's something interesting. Word of caution, I can really overthink a problem, so if the rambling gets too crazy, disregard. Lol. Do scooter companies restrict the rear pulley as well? Noticed when I was measuring up CVT that the belt does not want to go very far into rear pulley. Tried shoving belt into the open pulley to see if travel would reach outside of variator. It doesn't seem to so I also wonder if Adly used to short a belt to limit range of CVT. Of course I'm doing this by hand, so massive errors abound, I'm sure. That's what the sharpie trick is for right? 😉 Anyway, the possibilities have occured to me that I may have to change rear pulley as well, and perhaps the belt size as a result. For now, it takes the ever elusive 878. Got a couple of Naraku spares in case needed. Also, nearly every part on this bike is stamped JET-50. Hopefully that will help narrow a few things down while shopping. this looks a bit narrow.

Also, I switched out the Gray Polini (20%) for the Green (35%). Still have that slight delay between 0-4mph, then BAM!!! Off like a shot. Could be a fuel mixture issue? Rollers seem to be doing good at 5.5. Perhaps 5 even might be a touch better? More experiments to follow.

Need to machine off that stupid restrictor nubbin or seek a straight sleeve of proper dimensions..What is its ID,OD and length?Perhaps we can find a replacement..
