Chuck a set off heavier weights in to see what they do. Perhaps about a one gram. Agreed. I think that's the best start to it as well. Puts me back to original weight on rollers. She's just so ferocious off the line with them 5.5s. lol. Will see if I can find a happy medium at somewhere between 5.75 and 6.5. On the plus side, figuring out the CVT and carb settings way more fun than any other puzzle I've had to put together. 😂

Well, I've done a week's worth of trials using weight combos from 6.5 down to 5.5. Acceleration was affected by changes, but speed and belt trav remained the same across the board. Pulled apart the clutch and started looking at rear pulley. It seems that the hub in torque driver is holding me out from achieving top gear. In fact, the distance created by the hub roughly correlates to the amount of sharpie left on variator. I also checked to make sure the clutch itself wasn't keeping rear pulley from fully opening. Nope it doesn't cause any issues. Driver opens fully. So... I ordered a new torque driver. Weights have been reset to 5.5 since that seemed to be the best setup so far. I'll attach this problem again when the new torque driver arrives.

I've also spent some time.playing with the contra springs. So far, stock is the winner. I ran through the weights using the Malossi White spring. All it seemed to do was bog the engine and chew up my belt.
The Malossi Torsion controller on the stock spring seemed to add just enough pressure, but it did hinder the sheaves from fully opening. So back to flat stock.
I think I'll take the slowdown on hills rather than chewing up belts. The 878 is a weird size and can be tough to find.

Added NCY 1200-1033 - 33mm I.D. secondary slider to rear pulley. Was completely shocked at how easy it was. Just two pins on the Adly. Since all my parts are marked Jet 50, I'm pretty sure that's the case with all of them. Anyway, I chose the middle groove for initial setup. We'll see how the RT likes it and adjust. I gotta hand it to Adly/Her Chee. They didn't try to short cut the grooves on the original sheave. They go from o'ring to o'ring.

Well, she lost maybe a half a step on acceleration, but it is so much smoother. I was getting slight lag around 25/30 with the old driver. That is completely gone now!
I guess I could fiddle with the rollers a little, but I'm a give it a week to break in, and we'll see from there. Might try the less aggressive angle a try next week.
