I recently purchased a carb on Ebay advertised as keihin. This is supposed to be for a stock 49cc 4 stroke. It shows up no where does it say Keihin on the carb or on the box box. I put on new fuel hose a fuel filter before the fuel shut of valve I installed and another between the valve and the carb with new hose also. At first it starts runs good even Idle was good. Which is good because I tried to see if I could adjust the idle and mixture when I first installed it. The idle made a difference but the mixture screw made no difference all the way in or out. It does not even physically feel like it does anything except spin in a empty bore hole without threads or seals until hitting bottom. Just overall feels like junk although at first ran good. Ride it a few times does great. Then it starts getting harder and harder to start. Now i notice a bit of gas coming from the vent tube. If it dies I have to shut of my gas valve to restart it.
So I want a new carb. Preferably a genuine Keihin. But Knock offs are fine if you guys have had good luck with them. Where do I get a genuine one or a good carb in general. Are the ones that J&J sell any good? Only reason I ask about theirs is because they are one of the first I came across.

No. Stock size of 18 mm is fine. Not looking for a near mythical creature. Just a link to a quality carb preferably genuine Keihin brand. Not just a link to a picture of a real one or a massive argument about how to tell them apart. But a actual location to buy a good carb for a 49cc 4 stroke GY6 that is still in business with a functioning site.

the guys here know lots of places to find reliable carbs . someone will know
actually we didn't argue at all . I was just letting him know that after calling all over the US to Keihin distributors , I found out that Keihin doesn't make carbs for scooters ; only motorcycles

Obviously there are multiple sellers on ebay. I have had decent luck with carbs from there. If the carb is not as advertised, request the seller to make it right. They should offer an exchange or refund. Even beyond the puffery by the vendor, it does not work as it should, so another reason for a return/refund.
One of the sellers is from SoCal(maybe more than one), and the carb I got was not a Keihin as far as I know, but just a decent run of the mill China made carb. I actually bought it on a whim as the picture made it look so good. It was OK as far as I can tell. tom

Well that is some what of a bummer. But at the same time I look forward to one of the guys that have had good luck with a particular dealer posting up a link. I have purchased parts from partsforscooters.com I just dont want to find out in a bad way if I should trust their supplier of carbs. Hopefully they can be trusted not just as a source of carbs but as a source of reliable carbs with a reference from this forum.

How does the throttle cable and air box hook to that on the 4 stroke? I’ll have to take a pic. The cable, it needs a slide carb cable, goes in the top and the air filter just connects to the end opposite of the intake.

Do you have any suggestions on where to purchase a good stock style carbs for a 4 stroke 50cc? Again preferably genuine or carbs you or someone you know has had good luck with in factory style configuration.
But nice pictures of your mods.

looks like someone has stolen your CVT cover.... Sooo clean. Does it look like that now? Does the 'frame' replacing the CVT cover have enough rigidity to take the place of a more solid cover? When installed, the cover adds a good bit of strength to the rest(left side) of the crankcase/gearbox. Sure does look good. tom
