I was thinking about upgrading the crankshaft on my 2014 tao tao ATM50-A1. But after some research I discovered that there are 2 different crankshafts for the 139qmb engine. One has a 16 tooth and the other is the 22 tooth both of which relates to the drive gear on the oil pump and are not interchangeable. Now the only information I could find online about these 2 different crankshafts is that the older models used the 16 tooth crank and the newer models use the 22 tooth crank. So I'm thinking that my 2014 tao tao will probably have the 16 tooth crank but it would be nice to know before I ordered it. I'm hoping somebody knows the answer so I don't have to remove the motor and then split the cases just to get the answer I'm looking for ! I tried to find out the year they switched over to the 22 tooth crankshaft but no dice. So if anyone can tell me what crank I need to buy it would absolutely be greatly appreciated ! Thanks alot !! ........ Brent if you happen to come across this thread I would love to hear your thoughts on this due to your personal experience with owning a tao tao 139qmb. Thanks again guys !!

Well, you can depend on the internet for facts, or you can spend a few bucks to just buy the pump that matches the sprocket on the crankshaft that you choose. I would just buy a new pump to go with the new crank. Local store in NC has the complete pump kits for $12.99/13.99, though I cannot tell the difference, and they do not note sprocket tooth count. Their cranks range from $45 to ~$180 for a stroker crank. You have to split the case to swap the crankshaft, and the oil pump has to be removed, or is right there when doing that change, so with 3 bolts R&R, you will be sure to match. The pumps are apparently considered a wear item from the service manuals, or they just want you to know the 'wear limits' on a pump that is in service that require replacement. My short take is that no one will actually know the answer for sure, but if you order one you should get one that matches. tom
