I would like too take the 2 spare wheels and mount them on front where the headlamps are now and put new headlights on the mirror extenion bar. I have no welding ability, would like to piece of 3/8" all thead in the cross bar behind the front panel. Think this is possible, will be trying something this coming weekend.

Spare wheels for scamping. I am working on a cover for these.

2 - 1/2-13 x 12" althread, drilled 1/2'' holes in the cross support and used standard 1/2" washers & nuts to attached. Simple but seem to work. Next step is to take a large alumium sause pan and lid. Cut the pan down to cover the tires and use the lid as a base.

I think that both sides of the bracket are going to bend in a twisting fashion and the plastic tabs are going to break.
I think you are asking for trouble having the electrical even more exposed to the wind and weather.

Wow. Two spares for scamping? I must say you go prepared. Is there a problem with bears biting through tires while you sleep at night? I suppose you must have an aversion to plugging or Sliming maybe? Or the roads you travel must have some really mean, sharp tire-shreading rocks. Have you thought about mounting a headlight to the cover you are putting over the tires? If you plan on a mirror mount I would suggest tying the stalks together with some kind of bar on which to mount the headlight.

i would tie the mounts into that lower part of that cross member too
you could always make a mount that goes acoss the threaded rod for the headlight but if you do go with the mirror mount you will want to tie the lights together and to another point on the bars to keep them steady

Wow. Two spares for scamping? I must say you go prepared. It's harder to notice in these pics, but in past posts he has revealed that he has one whole wheel/tire assembly for front and rear so all he'd have to do is replace it for a quick roadside repair. I think it's a pretty cool idea.

I think you are asking for trouble having the electrical even more exposed to the wind and weather. The tires resting against the front of the scoot will take the twisting force from the bar but a doubling of the thickness there wouldn't be a bad idea.

My mirror extension is a 36'' x 2'' x 1/8 peice of alumium mounted above the handle bars. It holds the mirror, shield and headlights. The 18'' ID sause pan lid will give the extra support. But this is a learn as you go project. Thank You for your thoughts they keep thinking of the possiblities.

What you have attached that to is designed to handle the weight of the ABS plastic panels. It really wouldn't be very expensive to have a welder fabricate some brackets that would attach to the frame.

When I put the pan lid for the base I will put additional bracing. In referance to slim, I don't leave home without but it never to be my only option.
When I leave Las Vegas Valley I am really in the desert, alone and on a horse with no name.
