Hi all I'm bringing a 2005 Zuma 50 back to life. Right now I have a new battery and ignition switch. I have power to the oil light and dash. No taillights, no action from start switch at all. I do have spark when kicked over with ignition on. I've replaced the main fuse. I have power into and out of the ignition switch. I can't activate the brake switches because I'm in the middle of doing front pads. Starter turns when jumped. Is there anything I need to find to get power to the start relay ? Right now no clicking or anything. Thanks Mad

Oh, I've also tried bypassing the brake switches. Nothing

Check for other safety switches. Your first priority should be to find a usable schematic.

Check the brake/tail light bulb is installed correctly and the pins are in the right slots, sounds a bit off the wall but a wrong bulb killed my Yamaha for days.

Ok, I've checked the taillight bulb, it seems to be correct. I have no power to the start button so I'm going to go back and check the wiring to the main fuse near the battery.

It's good to check the check voltage is actually getting through the fuse. It might look ok, but be faulty.

Well, I cut out the old glass fuse connection and replaced it with a blade fuse, brand new. Hard wired the wire connection. Maybe ill try a different fuse.

UPDATE well, after looking into a lot of different things, I found that my brand new OEM ignition switch was no good. Bought another one. Now taillight works and actually cranked with the electric starter. But then my Chinese knockoff start relay melted. So I'm waiting for an OEM relay and then I can continue.

Hey thanks for the offer. Unfortunately my starter relay is quite a bit different than that one.

A regular old style FORD starter relay will work, they just look different, and they can be purchased at any auto parts store.

EXCITING UPDATE
Well, since we last talked, my 90 lbs of pure muscle, bad eyesight and no brains Dawg ran into me on our walk. I tried evasive maneuvers but failed. Major dislocation of left knee, fractured tibia , torn meniscus. Had surgery last Monday and don't actually feel too bad. Doctor was a freaking genius. Plated the break, cleaned out bone chips and repaired meniscus. I'm in a splint with instructions to not move much for 2 weeks then back to doctor to get sutures out and start rehab. But I can't put ANY weight on the leg for 3 MONTHS. So, scooter and everything else is going on the back burner.
