You can get complete petcocks from web sites, or local scoot shops. You can get them from overseas suppliers, but will have to wait longer. The 'straw' helps keep the cruds from getting into the petcock, between the stopper and the seat, which would defeat the purpose of the petcock. There's a 'rubber' plug that spring loads against the seat to close off the fuel flow when vacuum is removed from the diaphragm. If there's crud, it can make the stopper not seat tightly, and fuel can flow out of the tank when the engine is off. The straw can trap some of that. IF you keep a clean tank, and don't get 'stuff' into it, you should be ok without the straw. If you fill the tank from gas cans, instead of at the pump, you have to be careful to keep things clean in the gas can, and around the filler. Should be doing that anyway. I think a search for '139QMB petcock' would turn up a few items that would work. Just about 75,000 items... tom
