The front brake works on hydraulic pressure. The air in the system is causing the spongy feeling. This will compromise The brakes effectiveness. The back brake is a long cable. The spongy feeling is the cable stretching.

ARRRGGGHH! I cut down the metric #4 bolts and while threading them in I noticed the right turn signal hanging loose. Then compared them to the left side. On the left the bolts are much shorter. The original bolts go through the turn signal mounts then continue on to the starter button. ARRRGGGHH! Yes the bolts are in but now the starter button is frozen in the OFF position. I'll remove it from the scooter and take it to the dealer.

Cutting a screw down is easy if you have a grinder/sander/file to smooth the end up.

My wife took the starter down to the scooter shop. They said they'll order a new one. She brought it back and now the button seems to move albeit stiffly. Would a shot of WD40 help?

A new starter does not have anything to do with the starter button. The starter button is just a switch that controls the starter relay (sometimes called a solenoid). If the starter switch is broken get a new one.

Try WD40. Got nothing to lose. You can take them apart and clean them. But as it's new, it's unlikely to be the problem I would of thought.

Hooked the basics up. Tried starting with the starter button but nothing happened after 10 minutes of letting it crank. Not sure why but I tried the kick starter next. And it fired up on the first kick. Maybe water, it's been pouring for weeks here and needed to flush things. I let it idle for 15 minutes. Then turned it off and tried restarting with the button. THIS TIME IT WORKED. Again, maybe water that needed engine heat to boil it off. Definitely using the replacement button once it gets here. Now I gotta make room in the garage; Snow expected on Friday.
