These are the inverter surfaces from my Piaggio Hexagon EXS1T 125 (1996). The surfaces are corroded and may cause the belt to slip and cause either jerky acceleration or wear the belt quickly.
I was thinking of resurfacing them - sanding them with wet & dry paper and then spraying them with zinc galvanizing paint and possibly with a durable automotive lacquer. The problem is, I don't know if any paint will stick well enough or if anyone has encountered this problem before.
Has anyone got any experience on whether or not it's worth trying to paint them or should I just remove the rough edges and possiblly polish them with my bench grinder to get a smooth surface that won't eat away at the belt?
Your assistance would be of great help if you have ideas....
