FrankenMech, I totally agree that the ratio of income to car cost is way off. i needed to blow off some steam, which helps chillin', over 1 reason why car costs are unnecessarily high and 2 frustration at my brought used Ford Escape with more crap in it than a Christmas turkey. It is reliable but I've been pulled twice for no taillights because when I get in at night, the dash is lit and the daytime(?) running lights which look like low beams allow me to think that I've already turned on the light switch and forgot about it. Of course there is an automatic light function which the manual states may not work in all circumstances, so I don't use that. And that is why scoots are Best!

please don't talk about running lights- when I recently rented the 2020 Dodge truck -it was something else I couldn't figure out . all I wanted to do was turn on the fucking interior light- but noooo between auto and another position and another and if the doors open and if your in park and if you press the brake pedal - WTF- don't EVEN ask me why the truck wouldn't move one time when I tried to back into a parking spot . I DON'T KNOW!! after the semi tractor trailer got tired of waiting for me and went around I finally got it to move . could it be the seat belt . on the bright ? side today I bought this off of craigslist- orlando.craigslist.org/cto/d/winter-springs-98-ford-ranger/7241139565.html in case he takes it down before you get to see it -      no screens, no video in the rear view mirror ; I gotta say tho , that Dodge rental was gorgeous . it spoiled me. one beautiful running truck. I guess everything else "new" these days runs and feels just as sweet . it was a 2020 with about 1100 miles on it . the guy told me they only keep them for a year and sell them for 20,000, . good deal if you can finance . aaahhh well at least now I might be able to do a little finishing while I can still walk . |

Yes, it is British and Canadian.
The truck looks clean, a lot cleaner than my old 93 beater.
Cars and trucks are WAY too complicated. Those conveniences break and are costly to repair. I like the old manual stuff, no automatic crap. Electric windows are one thing I am kind of on the fence about. It is nice to be able to hit a switch to open/close those passenger side windows but it is hell when that driver side window no longer works.
Auto headlights usually work but there are some times when you just have to turn them on.
I wish they had standardized controls long ago. With standard switches and positions but the car makers would have never stood for that.

yeah , the chevy I rented was diff than the Dodge for the light ; the cab lights are pathetic. can't read anything at nite in the cab . simple light bulb will do .

I have seen a couple of car brands now, Audi, Citroen. Have full control of everything through a central pad.
I know someone who hired a Citroen cactus. You have to go into heater settings an slide a bar down to control the heater!
How can that not be dangerous when driving? What's wrong with a dial in the dashboard?

we have R&D and AI and IT "developers" to thank for all these "innovative" "conveniences" - ( read - ridiculous BS )that we just can't live without - along with weaponised drones too . thank God for WAR huh !
