After trying to remedy the erratic running and not having access to a leak down tester or the inclination to make one I am going to slowly work my way through the engine now sidecar is off to see if crank seals are playing up. I have found a spare gasket set for the 20/20 spaco carb and some reed valve's (malossi). I have more time on my hands now I am down on one job so get it on the ramp in the morning and start checking so I am putting this here and results so I remember š 1. Drain gearbox oil see if smell of petrol or its dropped its level which will prove either sucking oil in or blowing petrol in to oil. 2. Head bolts and around head and barrel for any signs of oil 3. Remove carb and reed block, repace reeds and gaskets check carb flange as known to warp. 4. If all that don't cure it check flywheel side oil seal and replace in any case. Think that will do for now.

Well drained the gearbox no stink of petrol or loss of oil so clutch seal ok. Taken carb off so will wait for work to get out of the way and gaskets to arrive. Reed valves not fully closed but only about 10thou gap. Not sure if that would have made any difference, anyone know?

She is old enough to start spannering on the scoots now. It's the next logical step up from Lego.

Carb on running but not road-tested yet. One thing I did notice as soon as on side stand it slowly looses revs and stops most likely nothing as always done that since I bought side stand over a year ago.

Nice and wet, windy and rainy with no let up so off for a road test. Stayed dry and glad to report it seems to be running ok but will test again when weather better. Thought steering felt a bit but on way back remembered the steering damper still set for sidecar use. One less thing to worry about š
