Did you measure the bore first? Might need to go to the next oversized, if the bores worn.

I have not, since this is an iron bore I think it should be fine (as the rings are softer than the cylinder)
it shouldn't be off by too much anyway, as it starts well when it's cold. just not when it's warm.
for what its worth, it lasted for over 30 years, so I think its time for a new piston for its next 30

Two strokes are designed so when they warm up, the piston tolerance gets less. That's why they often smoke when cold. Sounds like it's well due another piston. Would be worth checking the seals as well. They can cause this problem.

good point, ive read online that if it has a hard start usually its caused by 3 things, lack of spark (bad coil), low compression, or flooding.
carb and spark are fine, I firmly believe that its compression that's the issue. but ill check the seals as well (don't think its that as it runs fine until I kill it, then it won't restart)

well, it's been a month, good news is that it still runs!!
I've put around 200 miles on it. still peppy, but I'm debating whether or not to big bore it yet (temping as I found a Naraku 70cc BBK kit for roughly 100 shipped, anyone had any experience with them?)
still goes good, and still got a spare piston for it, but the quest for speed is still there.

Quite a few people on here have used the Naraku kits now. They don't make a ton of power. But really make good torque. Acceleration will be greatly improved, but it revs quite low, so won't see a big improvement on top speed.

yeah, id imagine it would probably be better if I rebuild it with the spare I bought.
for now, ill hold off until something happens to it.

hehe, not yet. i was about half a second away from cutting them up to clear the muffler, but then I realized that I could just bend the muffler away instead. I'm wondering if a Minarelli vertical cylinder might fit on this, anyone got an idea on the stud spacing? Hey i have same bike and i want to fix it up. Dose minarelli 70cc vertical fit?

Hey i have same bike and i want to fix it up. Dose minarelli 70cc vertical fit? Probably, measure the bolt pattern on the cilinder, i think it was posted here that it’s 45mm
