I have a stock honda met except for sliders and a performance clutch I bought because the original had bad bearings. I'm looking into getting a polini variator and a ncy cdi, right now warmed up it hits 40 on flat and 43 down hill before the rev limiter kicks. Right now I have 6.5g sliders. I would like to be able to get up to around 43 flat but still have equal to or more torque, it takes me awhile to get to 40. I'm thinking 5.5 gram sliders will help torque and acceleration and then hopefully the ncy cdi will give me top end. I would have no problem if it goes 41 but gets there really quick because right now it takes around 250-300 yards to get up to 40 mph. It has 10,300 miles, still has spec compression (175 psi). I wont be holding it at 40 for more than 3/4 of a mile on my daily commute to school. I am a freshman and I weigh 115lbs (I will be 120 after the wrestling season this winter). Might just go with stock variator and a cdi with 5.5 sliders if the polini isn't all what I think it its give me an idea of the range of sliders I should try. Also how will this affect gas mileage? As long as it's still going to get more than 80mpg I'm fine with that. Looking for better acceleration more than top speed really, the highest speed limit I have to meet is 35 but I dont like getting tailgated.

Every mod is a compromise. When you increase acceleration etc you decrease mileage and so on. Remember the old saying about having your cake and eat it too? Or Faster, better, Cheaper, -pick two? Pick the most important thing and work towards it.

Get some 5.5g rollers. They are quite cheap. If they are too light, mix them with your current ones. So 5.5,6.5,5.5,6.5. This will give you a 6g average.
