I just got back from a short 15 minute ride around my house. It’s dark and the Xmas lights are bright. Perhaps later in the month I’ll YouTube a ride around so y’all can see the lights. I wore my hood work insulated coveralls, decent gloves and a hoodie under my helmet. Makes the helmet tight but my ears stayed nice n warm. I think with a pair of insulated boots, long Johns and some HotHands hand warmers in my gloves I’ll be al set for a bit longer cold weather ride. No 100 miler like some of yous but perhaps a two hour tour.

Haha great! I was really wondering how it would look since my helmets are so snug on my head it's impossible to get anything in between. Just make sure to be safe man and make sure your helmet isn't too big or the padding worn out!

Mine is an xl and tight. I just need to stop the air from swirling around my noodle.

Just be careful of ice. The road temperature will often be colder than the air temperature. Get yourself a thermal balaclava too.

So I just got back from a very short ride. Tshirt, two sweat shirts, long Johns, two pair of socks, insulated coveralls and warm gloves.
Not bad, wind whistles around my forehead and temples but the rest I can cope with.
Gotta do what I gotta do to keep up with Tanuki and the 2021 scoot tag thread.

Cripes! Now I really feel like a sissy for shutting the scoot down when it gets around 45 degrees fahrenheit.

I just wish I could ride. 😞 Broken or quarantine? I have been told to isolate, because of health conditions. But we are in lockdown. Essential travel only. No scooter tag for me. Probably for at least another couple of months. It's depressing. I usually do at least 4,000+ miles a year between my scooters. I have owned the typhoon, for about a year and a half. Done nearly 600 miles! My aerox had for about four months. Done 35 miles! 😯

I've rode as cold as -5F. The most important thing besides the clothing you mentioned, is to keep the wind off of you. A full face helmet with a balaclava to keep the wind off you face and neck is really important. I've never used hand warmers, just thick, insulated winter gloves like snowmobiler's use.

In college i rode in negative temps and the air intake tube (from airbox to carb) cracked in half. I've avoided cold driving since. I went with the ski goggle approach.
