Im guessing your 92 Jet is still probably too big. Try Between 85-90. Also you'll need an adjustable needle for your carb to tune your mid throttle. If you have no takeoff usually lean the Needle out. Once you get take off try full throttle at 20km/h+ and see how it responds and you can get a feel of where the main jet is at... Adjust your a/f screw. Set your idle 10% higher, then tune the a/f screw till you get a strong blip on the throttle. I have a post on the replacement pilot jet part number as well. It did help my fine tuning, but not sure that would be your main problem You can Get a set of 6MM main jets from a scooter dealer by stage6 or polini. much cheaper than singles from the dealer. www.scootertuning.ca/en/carburettors-main-jet/5051-main-jet-set-stage6-dellorto-6mm.htmlCould also not be carb, but thats what i think... Looks like I gotta wait a whole month for that Pilot Jet from Partzilla to come in... It looks to be the same everywhere else, so it's understandable. Regardless, thanks for your information and pictures, I'll go ahead and try out those ideas whenever those jets do come in. For the Main Jets, I do have a kit that ranges from 90-108, but I'll go ahead and look into another range of main jets if that size 84 Main Jet doesn't work out for me. You mentioned getting an adjustable needle for the carb; is there anywhere where you can get that? Otherwise, I remember reading on Zino's linked thread from before where he talks about making that mod (cutting a line into it) to access the needle (not sure if I feel comfortable doing so though). [EDIT: I'm wrong about this; he talked about cutting the Throttle Cam, not the Slide] And lastly, you mentioned about the issue not relating to the carb, what else do you think it could be?

If i remember correct i think you get the adjustable needle by ordering a needle from a prebug carb. Got mine at a yamaha dealer as well as the pilot jet.
with the stock idle jet the 90 might be worth a try if you havn't, but probably needs a leaner needle setting to get going. Or if you get the 46 pilot installed maybe the 84 might cut it. With the 84 start with the needle at the richest or second richest.

So I'm looking at Partzilla's site for the Part No's / Diagram and I'm thinking I'm gonna need these parts: Link for the entire Carb DiagramNeedle Set (No.5 on the Diagram | 5DA-1490J-00-00) Throttle Valve (No. 4 on the Diagram | 4LV-14312-30-00) Plastic Connector (No. 26 on the Diagram | 4LV-14274-00-00) Spring (No. 27 on the Diagram | 4LV-14286-00-00) Looking at the ZumasRUs store, it looks like they list No. 4 & 5 as being the only things needed ( Link). Also, I was wondering how much things were for you to get that Adjustable Needle? Thanks a bunch

The only part you need is the needle. Everything else transfers over. THe set is nice incase you drop a little thing into the abyss.
I also always have a can of brake cleaner around and clean paper towels. Spraying the carb before opening and spaying the needle after adjusting is nice.
Your A/f screw is also possibly plugged up from factory, you need to get access to that...
Clockwise richens the pilot.

Alright that's a relief to hear... I'll go ahead and buy one tomorrow. As for that A/F Screw, I've already got that welch plug off. It was quite the fun

What weights do you have in the new variator? what weights do you have? Do you have any other weights for stock carb?

For weights, I believe I have 6.5G on them right now. For the brand of weights, I'm using the Prima kit (mostly because they were on sale at the time for Black Friday). For contra spring, I have a Yellow Malossi on there. Otherwise, everything else is still stock and original.
Not sure if it'll help to mention this, but the bike has around 8k miles on it currently.

Was it working before the throttle mod? Thats shouldnt have changed anything...
If you have no power at mid throttle, probably your needle is rich.. Main Jet who knows..
If you can get the scooter going downhill and get a little speed, you can sometimes you can get to full throttle. That way you can find out if your main jet is close or not. avoid waisted time diagnosing the needle just to fond out your main jet is off...

Yup it was working before the mod, for the most part I believe. I think I'm just going to try another leak test + give the carburetor a good clean for the rest of today. I've got school coming up again pretty soon so my time with my scooter will start becoming pretty limited . Thanks for the link(s), I'll go ahead and read those whenever I get the chance! Parts won't come in for another few weeks so answers won't come until then.

Check where the air intake connects to the crankcase, those seem to come loose often... Good Luck

Thanks! And the intake is good. I've left the scooter with the pressure tester around for the whole day and the pressure hasn't changed a bit!

Great news! The scooter works well now!! Here's what I changed up after my last update: Blocked the Exhaust CAT Tube
I just blocked it up better than before here. Needle SetSo after receiving the new needle set, I compared the old one with the new and noticed that the old one's needle was set to the most 'Lean' setting. The following picture compares the two. I set the new needle height to middle - as shown in the picture. Following that, I went ahead and installed it into the carburetor and tried starting it up. The new jets still haven't arrived at this point, so nothing really changed (the problem still persisted where it choked out after around 1/4-1/2 throttle). Not sure if it counts, but I after revving it a few times, I think it might've improved things (where I could turn it a bit more), but not a lot. Spark Plug
Amid the revving, the scooter ended up dying again. I took it out and cleaned it up to no avail. I ended up replacing it with a spare and up it was going again. Turns out I completely fouled that one. Pilot and Main JetBoth jets came in yesterday and I finally got the chance to try them out today! I went ahead and swapped the old jets with the new ones (Pilot: 2001-04 Vino Carb Jet Size 46; Main: [No Specific Model] Size 84). Turned it on; let it idle; revved it and it didn't choke! Here's a video of it running/revving: I'll go ahead and post another up date in a few more days once the new body panels come in for it. Wow this is exciting, I can't wait to finally ride it again! Thank you Vino and Willie for all the help!
