I am fitting a prebug Zuma into a 1946 cushman. I have no idea how the coil, oil tank, and wiring loom is attached to the rear of frame. Would any of you be able to provide a photo with all your plastics off detailing the connections? Any help is incredibly appreciated.

On my BWS, same as prebug. The wiring ran down the right side as sat on the vehicle. There was a brackets for the coil and oil tank to mount to the frame, with bolts. The oil tank need to be higher than the pump. So gravity feeds the oil to it. Apart from that you could mount it anywhere. The loom is just held in place by zip ties.

That's so different to my 2002 model! Did they completely redesign the bws from the ground up In 2001? my bike is running the 2007 loom cdi and engine from witch I had a donor bike and as you said very different under the skin. I did route all the wiring ect as it was from factory on the prebug

I think they did. It got under the seat storage too where the tank is. And a little panel, from which you can get at the spark plug.

Post some photos of your build Many thanks! This is exactly what I needed. I didn’t see a way to post photos of the scoot. I just got done with the wiring. It looks like a clunky 40’s cushman. But it’s a fun Yamaha Zuma at heart!

I have a 2008 yamaha Zuma as well that I was going to use as a donor and they are completely different. 89-01 used the vertical Minarelli motor. Inside the belt case it says made in Italy. 2002 later has the horizontal motor and relocated gas tank further back and oil tank to allow the large trunk storage. The front end of prebugs are way lighter so they are easy to wheelie. The 2002 later feel a lot different.

That's why it has a removable panel in the helmet storage, to get to the plug.

I’m sure all bws had the vertical engine Interesting. My 1998 prebug is vertical and all my bug Zumas have been horizontal.
