Curious about where people park: Rules changed here in 2015 making scoots technically "motor vehicles", requiring parking only where cars can. Checked with local PD, and rules will b enforced.
Main concern is security. How much to lock up? My solution? Patronize businesses with scooter friendly parking, private propery?
What do u do?

When I lived in the Detroit, MI. area a couple of my friends had scooters and neither of them had garages. I had the luxury of a garage that was secure. Which in some urban areas is a luxury.
Both of my friends had the idea that "out of sight, out of mind" was the simplest form of security. One friend parked his scooter behind the house, locked with chain wrapped around frame to his back porch. My other friend hid his behind a couple of big bushes and chained to his front porch.
The point is to prevent people that cruise around looking for stuff to steal from seeing what you have.

Here in the UK scootin is seen as a positive so I can park in the town centre for free snuggled in among the bikes and trikes,if I was worried about theft I would opt for a ground anchor or a bulldog Geoff

You could always get a no-title beater and register it in Vermont. Use that one anytime you're heading somewhere the thieves might show up!

wiscootsin No title is required in North Carolina. When CoViD lets up. I will start a conversation with my city council member I know well. I see them illegally parked, and don't know how they get away with it. Thanks. Parking at home is worked out.

i would put a U-lock through the rear tire so that it couldn't be easily rolled away. Front wheel lock is helpful but it's easier to pick up front end and roll away.
Someone tried to steal the Aprilia sportcity 50 I had while it was parked at Target!

Same rules here in SC. It's a motor vehicle and must be in parking space. I usually look for cameras and park well within the line of sight. wiscootsin is right about the rear wheel. It keeps people from rolling the scooter off and if the design forces you to drop the pipe to remove the wheel, that's an added plus, at least for anyone on foot. Anyone with a pickup and a friend, or one person with decent amount of strength -depending on the bike- can just scoop it up though. I also switched out the vacuum petcock for a manual fuel shutoff and I have a disconnect for the electrical. If they get it started, they won't get far, unless they know where to look. I suppose you could get a bike alarm, but I'm not very familiar with those. There are also electronic rev limiters that will restrict the bike rpms to something completely unusable. Never used one, but it seemed like an interesting idea. As for out and about, I try not to leave the scoot out in the open for too long. If I am getting food, I try to sit where I can see the bike. If I'm at the gym, I park near a window and check every now and then during rest periods. Ultimately though, I had to make peace with the fact that if somebody really wants to steal it, they're gonna steal it. These things are just an attempt to make it not worth the effort in hopes that the would-be thief will look for easier pickings.

Ground anchor? It,s a steel plate bolted to ground/concrete with a u shaped buckle that goes around the wheel and locks into the plate.not perfect be the scoot can,t be lifted away.

i bought a bag of quikrete and a big U bolt. dug a hole and cemented the U loop in place. I used that to lock things outside. Cost maybe $5.
