Well this morning flurry of snow so out with the scooter do the shopping. As I was getting gear on that gut feeling said take car but was overturned by inner child. Got to bakers wouldn't start, had spark fuel not getting through think it was about -8c with wind so could have iced up who knows. Mate pulled up took me home got car and trailer got back dropped tailgate and cut through light wire. Thought how to get it on when a young couple shouted from other side of the road wanna hand and job done now sitting in garage. Next time I shall listen to intuition and not self ☺️

Gut feelings can be accurate.
This cold is bad news when trying to fix a scoot or any vehicle beside the road.
A single drop of water can disable a scoot in this weather and is hard to find when troubleshooting in a warm shop.

Indeed could be the rubbish modern rubbers around coil, plug breaking down under compression, fuel, muck in carb. On the back burner till Monday when it will probably start ☺️

Learned to act on my intuition:
If memory serves -8c converts to about 24f? As a rule I avoid the scooter if the temp is below 40f or about +4c. ... after almost getting frost bite one morning, when it was 17f.
Not much fun, and a scooter is supposed to b fun? Right?

That was 1976, I remember well... The damn AARP lobby shut the conversion down. May the AARP be damned in Hell forever.

Was reading today. It's 50 years since we went to decimalisation. No more pounds, shilling, and pence. That was such a complicated system.

Well went through system check and would not start. Sprayed coil and rubbers ht lead etc with WD40 and off it went. Got bit of crud out of carb float bowl and main jet stack though.

No telling what caused the problem. Sounds like you do need a better fuel filter.

Fuel filter ( mesh screen ) appeared ok new one fitted reckon the perished and cracked cheap rubber around HT parts did not help
