Thinking about replacing stock CDI on Wildfire 50 with a "performance" CDI. Opinions?

If the stock CDI is rev limited, good idea. If the stock CDI is not limited, expect no to slight gains. Some of these aftermarket units don't actually do anything different and it seems like a crap shoot sometimes guessing if you'll end up with one that actually changes the timing. I'd think those adjustable units would be more likely to do something, but I'm not sure. Also, advancing ignition timing can require higher fuel octane.

if you want to advance your ignition you could slot the holes on the pick up. Then you could put it back to original if there is no improvement.
There are AC CDIs and DC CDIs.
I am told that DC CDIs produce 8-10% more power.
Myself I took out the stock rev limited DC CDI that had 6 wires and replaced it with a AC CDI with an advance curve built in. Because I

My IF you are building a really high revving bike above 14k RPM i would definitely recommend in buying a solid brand name cdi such as malossi scooterpartsco.com/malossi/01-malossi-master-part-list/malossi-cdi-for-genuine-scooters <Just a example of a quality cdi comapred to buying the cheap blue ebay cdi. When you get into higher rpm and want quality controlled spark with a solid proven consistency of performance malossi is the way to go.

Please stop. I don't look at posts that are historical unless searching for an answer.
Having posts with the 'new' flag with the purpose of increasing your YOUR!!! post count is wasting EVERY ONE ELSE's time.
Just take your time, and post, if you are ADDING TO THE CONVERSATION, on newish posts. If you have enough to add, your count will go up faster than you realize.
Again, please do not post to revive old threads and take up MY time anyway, or I will ignore any posts that you make if I see your name. "the sky is falling..." not. "Wolf! Wolf!" ... can wear out a welcome. tom

imma do it 😈 Running a purple Kitaco "adjustable" AC cdi im pretty happy with got quite a few hot miles on it. It basicly cool because you turn the resistor all the way and you get i think 18* advance on a after 2000rpm. So you can have a nice little bit of advance and also easy startup and idle. it also dosent cut revs when i go downhill fullbore, so fyi at your own risk. for $20 i recomend it
