I was given this scooter by my brother as he didn't have the time to fix it. The scooter runs though it isn't in the best condition. It kick starts but either the starter or starter solenoid is bad I think. I've heard the starters have issues with oil getting inside them. Two things giving me trouble are figuring out the spaghetti that is all the vacuum lines and getting the starter working.
1. Don't know what this one is for. Just goes to airbox I think. 2. Vac line on intake manifold? 3. I've heard this is to stop the engine backfiring? 4. There is a short hose on the side of the carb here that just vents to the air? If I replace the vac petcock with an inline shutoff I can remove that line and eliminate the T intersection. I also don't think the charcoal filter is doing anything at this point and could be eliminated. Is there anything else I can/should do to clean up the hoses a bit? Also for some reason the drain hose pictured below is crimped shut. Any reason that might be that way? Work I've done so far: Cleaned the carb Changed the oil Drained & replaced the fuel New battery To Do? New Tires / Valve Stems New Starter +? Fuel Line + Filter Swap vacuum petcock for inline shutoff Vacuum Line replacement Magnetic drainplugs Anything else I should be concerned about?

Download a service manual and operators manual. To electric start you must have the brakes ON with a charged battery. The starter relay must also be connected to the starter.
It is strange the Data plate has no date of manufacture and VIN on it. You will find more info in the 100+cc section.

Does the starter relay make a clicking sound?
You can also jump the starter relay (using 12 gauge or heavier wire), to see if it engage the starter.
