I am not that adept at tuning 2 strokes or variators. Trial and error usually.
The pre history of Honda sh50 carrying me at 230 ilb's oringinal ride home 30 mph just under.
Changes to engine since purchase 70cc bbk and 17.5 mm carb 90 main jet ( not yet tuned ) from original 12mm Honda one.
Variator Changes.
1 After taking out old weights which presume would have been 10g but very worn and all around 9g and putting in 5g instead and new mallossi belt and leaving old contra in was ok on flat 30mph ish burnt out belt on steep hill nearly with no climbing ability
2 Changed to 2000 new contra spring leaving 5g weights it then revved its nuts off and did about 15-20 mph max
3 So today I put in the original contra spring again no idea whether 1000 or 1500 rpm spring and then mixed the 5g with the 9g rollers and pulled to 35 mph constant on flat but did not keep throotle wide open as new bore.
I then got my MOT at garage and then tax and did some stop start hill climbs on steep hill. always pulled well to 30mph and did not take it more than 35 mph down.
It seems to pull best on last bit of throttle so bearing in mind I am not the most petite person for small cc scoots would trying 8g with the 5g rollers help or leave as is and maybe check the carb when got chance?
Thank you

There is a lot going on here. Usually a belt burns up because it's thin and worn. Or the contra spring isn't doing it's job. As it's ok with the old belt. I would think the new belt is too long, or thin. I would probably leave the rollers as is for now. Perhaps they are a tad heavy, but as the cylinder breaks in. Might feel better.
