If all goes according to plan, I’m picking up an ‘08 Zuma tomorrow. Once I pick it up, I’m planning on ordering the parts. Is mid-60MPH possible with “street” parts? Or do I need to lean towards race? I’d prefer a cast iron cylinder, but don’t want to undershoot my goal. Also, would a crank upgrade be required to put me safely within the mid-60’s? How’s the Stage 6 street race cast cylinder vs the Malossi cast? Is it really better? I wouldn’t mind upgrading the crank if it’ll be a big gain. I do want this scoot to be reliable enough for a few 30-40 mile rides. Any thoughts on parts? My only other scooter was a Genuine Buddy, and parts are so limited. I didn’t have all these options. Many people are running the stage6 streetrace here in europe. it is hard to find another cast iron cylinder with a wide powerband and good top speed that is made for everyday use for the price of the streetrace cylinder. ofcourse you can buy a polini corsa or a malossi sport and port it. but the streetrace is strong out of the box with a low price for its class.

Buddy’s have the small tires right? Most guys I know with those size tires on Elites start at ~9.0:1 and only go lower from there. My buddy’s elite with a Corsa and a pipe with 8:1 gears will do 70mph. A lot of guys run 7:1 as well. They being said, for our tastes around here, the latter may be a bit extreme lol. Yes. Small tires. 90/90-10. That said, I dont know if gearing exists for the bike that’ll go lower then 9.5:1. I really don’t want to rosk losing much low end power, so my biggest concern is that the 9.5:1 will be too aggressive. I do have lots of hills/mountains. Maybe a 90cc engine swap would suit your liking. It wont be a high revving screamer, but you get the low end grunt. Spin less rpm, less wear and tear than spinning over 10k rpm all the time.

I have a 2004 They are a solid platform .
2002-2005 The bare minimums you have to upgrade if you kit it and pipe it The 14.66 gears have to be changed out you can go as low as 14/42 . The Clutch is 2 shoe which has a hard time keeping up with more power so that has to be swapped out . The torque driver has dual angle so it has a funny shift .
The good things compared to 2008-2011 The Carb is adjustable both at the needle and the idle mixture so you can upjet it Mikuni Jets 11/22 jets fit something between 85-95 works well . The stock pipe is Cat free so you dont have extra holes in your air box to plug
