I was looking under my scooter and I found a tag welded to the frame with the serial number and says made in Taiwan. recently I seen or read that genuine scooters are made in Taiwan.

Genuine are made in Taiwan by PGO. Well most are. They have some models from other builders, but their lineup is predominantly PGO.

adly, genuine, kymco, tgb ,sym Are made in taiwan sccooters good quality and good value for the money .
Alot of them started as companies affiliated to the japanases/italian brands and then started producing scooters on their own from those original builds . These similiarities helped make the aftermarket part scene explode.

90cc version is the SMC Rex. a few of the slipped into Oahu. that's the engine the shop tuner told to get, "put an up gear set in it and you can run with the DIOs all day long, strokers and all." same shop that i bought parts from, this is how they did it 11 years ago.
taiwan stuff...

Kymco used to make Honda engines (AF16 and Cub too I think), and so did SYM (AF16 and some more). Last I heard, SYM was making engines for Maserati? And the rumor is they make the engine for the new Royal Alloy (if that’s true I’m totally saving up for one of those!). SYM does a lot of contract building. And IMHO, both make really good GY6 based engines.
PGO worked with Piaggio, which is where it gets its name PiaGgiO.
FWIW, I’d love to do a Buddy 125 Metro swap, or a Ruckus Buddy 170i, or Kymco Like 200i swap.

That’d be a sweet bike to make a shrimp truck run over to the North Shore! Shave ice afterward.
