Scamping Report Oct 2011 My horse and I, both the same, not pretty but it works. In the past my sanity has been questioned. Now there is no more question. I have none. 2 day 6 hours 402 miles. Thurday started, travel north 100 miles to Pahranagut National Wildlife Preserve. Not a bad place to wake up too. Travel 60 miles thru Alamo, NV north to Caliente. Skip the tent and stay at a 40's sytle motel with only 8 rooms. Nice. Spent several hours seeing the town. Satuday left 5am. Talk about rolling up the sidewalks. Can't even buy a cup of coffee that time in the morning. Stop at Alamo, coffee must. Sight seeing 1 hour. Scooter 2 weeks old. Continue south at 318 and 93 juction home to vegas or detour Glendale. Why not, Gleandale. Headed north on I - 15 15 miles, straight home or detour 60 miles more Valley of Fire State Park and Lake Meade National Park. Crazy, Lazy days of Fall? After 200 miles in a single day, scooter fitige set in and 40 mile to go but worth it all.

Thanks for sharing that with us. Amazing scenery. I've never seen the desert, and I'd like to, but I don't think I'd have the uhhh... fortitude... to do it scamping. That last pic especially makes me wanna ride just looking at it.

The only thing I try to heat is perhaps water for instant coffee or tea with a pocket stove. Dried fruit and jerky get me by for the most part. Sometimes I fast too. That is an impressive trip for a lil' o scooter.

that last picture...wow. i am jealous. i love it here but to be close to places like that when i am feeling totally misanthropic like today...must be wonderful.
The people the rest of the world call crazy are the ones who historically have changed the world. People called NASA crazy. George Lucas and his little kids space movie was called crazy. Steve Jobs was called crazy. God bless the 'crazies' of the world.

No cooking also, hot meal when I left and when got back. The 2 orange bags carried what I needed for 70's weather day and 30's weather at night. Lived on candy, cookies and nuts. Plus coffee at most stops. The red box for tools and parts glad I didn't need them but don't want to travel without. The black bag on front was my feed bag nuts and candy. 2 cans for gas one under the seat and other strap behind me only need one. My tent was rolled up inside the sleeping bag hanging on the spare wheels.
So far it works for me, hoping to make a 900 mile trip to Carson City, NV this Easter Break. We will see what happens.
Thanks for reading my story and hope to see other out there scamping.
