I found this bike at an estate sale as is. Oil looked good after I changed it. Bike started fine then after idling for a bit it started pouring out gas through the "breather-seperator" which was missing it's plug so the system was open. I checked oil and a half pint of gasoline and oil came out before I could get the plug back in. I assume the missing plug on the breather allowed something to go wrong but never expected a crankcase full of gas. Anyone know anything about these bikes? Bike is pristine with only 300 miles on it. Not a single cosmetic thing wrong. Just sat for 35 years. I was thinking of just plugging the crankcase vent and bypassing the system if that is possible. Thanks if you can think of anything. Supposedly the bike had been gone over by a dealership. I guess they missed something. Oddly the bike started great even with the case full of oily gas. nice and clean in there at least.

What the hell is a 'breather-seperator'? Pictures would help. A bad float needle in the carb will allow gas to build up. Find a service manual and download it.

Agreed sounds like the floats not sealing theres nothing in the vent system that's gonna cause the crank case to flood like that

thanks will do. breather-seperator is their term for a pcv setup. but will check carb float needle although it is an unpleasant task getting the carb out on this thing from what the forums say. but it sounds like an easy fix. thanks for your help guys. just found a honda forum which has a procedure for this exact problem. apparently its pretty common. will post a photo if the carb looks interesting enough to help anyone else.

U can try tapping on the bowl of the carb with like a handle of a ratchet sometimes it will shock whatever reason it's not sealing and start working than run some fuel cleaner through it I prefer techron but if the seats corroded or the needle rubber seal is bad that will not work. And after whatever repair u m as ke make sure to change the oil

I did change oil again. It seemed to have loosened up the float needle but not going to run it very far. About a half mile then I stop and check oil to see if any gas getting in there. I have made 4 trips this way and no evidence of gas getting into case. will do that a few more trips then change oil again. only .85 quarts per change so may work. will try the fuel cleaner as well. thanks for the follow up. will check back in with progress. gonna have to get in there sooner or later tho.

I would put the techron in asap while it seems to be working and ride around some mix it a little heavy of cleaner to gas ratio before it jams up again if it was dirt or varnish run that tank empty if keeps working than change oil again and put a new fuel filter preferably a performance filter even though u already changed oil do it again after the cleaner bc I've had cars with similar issues and sometimes it takes more than one oil change to get all the fuel residue out of the crank case but do the cleaner now before it gets hung up again. If it works and u have the capability to remove the carb and clean it by taking apart or buy a new carb they cheap enough also check the tank for rust or debris

update. bike running great. don't know if techron helped but doesn't matter. will get in there soon to clean carb thoroughly. could be just because it was sitting so long. but thanks for help. now the 250 elite has issues! one door closes, another opens.

Def from sitting and if available try to use only ethanol free fuel it's way better for many reasons and it def doesn't varnish and gum as bad. My scoot gets about 3 mph faster top speed way better take off and I get about 10 MPG more per tank.
