How did u make out

Here’s where I’m at. Don’t have an air compressor, it’s now on the list. So I ordered a new set of rings and they threw in a piston. Got a new rocker arm assembly and put her back together. Re-jetted to 90 and 32. Cleaned everything up and reassembled. Compression test showed the same 60psi. WTF! Took her outside and she fired right up and ran. Paranoid of running lean I re-jetted to 96 and 35. A little too rich I think. Going back down to 94 or 92 on the main depending on the plug, and 38 on the pilot. I think that will be close and will tune from there. Will also tune the roller weights. She takes off fine but seems to lag from 1/4 to 1/2 throttle. There’s noticeable clicking from the clutch area that I’ll check out since I’ll be in there anyway. There’s noticeably more power. Thinking the new carbs #28 pilot may have been the culprit but I don’t know. Thanks for all the advice! At least I’m back on the road!

If ur needle clip is adjustable check that first bc that is the main factor in the 1/4 to 3/4 throttle range

The saga continues! The scoots been running fine after some tuning and jet adjustments. Then it started bogging with out the boom. It cut off but restarted and drove. Weird. I replaced the petcock with a manual fuel valve but the bogging continues intermittently. It feels like the fuel is suddenly cut off, giving it more throttle adds speed for a second, but she inevitably cuts off. I’ve rechecked the fuel line and all looks good, not even a bubble. At this point I’m thinking carburetor, but it’s basically new. Or… when I reassembled the head I attempted to install a temp sensor, which made threading the spark plug difficult. It’s possible I cross threaded it, but at this point it’s in. I’ve ordered a back threading tool and I’m waiting till it gets here before pulling the plug. Could the spark be causing the bogging effect? I couldn’t preform the tests requiring an air compressor before but I have a small one now so I’ll give it a shot. As always, thanks.

I've had us do similar shit before it checked ok for spark when out but it would run for a min or so at lower rpm than just flat out big like it had no fuel. Some things to check are valve adjustment,be sure u have good flow of fuel from line to carb pull hose off be sure it flows good, remove if wire take a test light connected to ground hold tip about a 1/8 inch from metal end in plug boot. Crank over and slowly move tip further away till spark stops it should be able to jump u would guess about 1/2 I haven't had to test a scoot yet but I been auto mechanic 30 years that's test I do on cars they will jump about a inch can't hurt to remove valve cover and check timing marks on cam while ur checking valve adjustment. After that the plug needs to come out. When u get plug out inspect it close look at color of plug white is lean check plug for carbon tracking, cracks in porcelain, melted electrode anything that looks off. I'd just replace if while it's out. Do not use cheap plugs from Amazon I have nvr had one work more than a week. Use a ngk cr8hix or cr7hix. The 8 is one colder plug. Y can post pics of plug if ur not sure. It sounds like ur compression gauge was not working correctly but that would be the next step

A common issue with compression gauges is where the Schrader valve (think tire valve) is located. It should be located at the spark plug end of the gauge connection. Any connection hose or whatever between the head and the Schrader (one-way) valve increases the volume of the combustion chamber and lowers the compression pressure reading. The small the cylinder, the worse the effect. Next, tthe throttle must be held wide open during the test. Or, loosen the carb off the intake manifold. It does take spinning the engine till the reading stops increasing to get the number. Good Luck!

Yes I kinda forgot Abt that jackrides is very correct I've had tons of issues with the shrader valve
