It's still in the factory warranty. 🤦 Still 50cc. The roads I ride to work on are seven and a half miles of 30 limits, and half a mile of 40mph limit. So not a lot of point in increasing the capacity yet. It will do 45mph GPS on the flat, and climbs the biggest hill round here no problem. That's why I haven't replaced the restricted CDI/coil yet.

Both of mine are DC CDIs.
My contessa sport build (polini speed exhaust, polini hispeed variator, stock carb & crank) stayed below 9500 most of the time you'd probably only be losing out on a couple mphs on the top, but imagine you could make up for it using a taller gear ratio.

Thank you for the links. I have read through the first link a couple of times now but was unaware of the last two so thank you again. So I guess before anything I will be looking into the links df41509 supplied for the cdi's and determine weather or not I can work past it. Id like to stay away from a stand alone ignition for two reasons. One being the price but another being my lack of experience with the 2 stroke engines. As far as assembling the engine and setting it up properly I am fairly confident in my abilities to do that. As far as the expansion chamber being paired with a complimentary cylinder. Not to mention wrapping my head around how the porting in the cylinder and all the math that goes along with the search for power I'm still in the early stages of learning. I plan on playing around with the couple 50cc cylinders I have. Port mapping and understanding how adjusting the ports and port timing effects the engine is where I'm reading and learning about now. I have been reading the "Two stroke tuners handbook" by Gordon Jennings. It's a heavy read but if been trying to re read and understand more over time.

Hmmm food for thought. I guess I might worry less about the rev limiter and copy your platform as a base and go from there. Another question I had was should I tare down to the crank anyways if I plan on doing the big bore kit? Lets assume I keep the rev limiter and never go over 10k rpm. My engine is extremely low miles my tach and spedo broke at 500miles but I have only put ten hours on the engine since then. Would it make sense to put a 10mm bbk onto the stock crank or just go the extra mile and replace it with a quality crank as just extra insurance?

I and others have run thousands of miles with a 70cc sport class cylinder on a stock crank keeping under 10 k rpms .
Godd oil and good jetting and these engines run per thousands and thousands of miles.

If it's low miles, it will be fine. It's when the miles are high, the extra stress of a big bore can take a toll.

What size carb do you have now? You could run a 70 sport kit with the standard carb if money is tight. I did for a while. It ran fine. Didn't have the top end power of the bigger carb. But still plenty of go. You will like the Malossi sport. You can see why it is so popular over there, the Polini is so much more expensive. Don't know why? 🤔

Don't know why? 🤔 Pretty sure its a 17.5mm but I have not actually measured it. I'm buying the carb now because once I upgrade to the pipe I'm hoping that I see the benefits of the bigger carb. I would most likely end up buying it along with the pipe or now, so its just easier to get out of the way. As far as money being tight its more of keeping orders under 300 at a time. So I'll just buy the pipe later on and re jet to get the most out of the bigger carb.

I'll have to go out and measure the carburetor throat tomorrow assuming it isn't still raining cats and dogs out. I'll report back what I find when the weather permits.

I have been putting a small mid summer parts order together so I will add one or two to the list. Also if anyone is still fallowing along for the card size it is a 19mm for some reason. I guess a previous owner replaced it at some point. Kinda pointless on a stock 50 but it saves me from having to buy a bigger carb when I buy the bbk.
