My Buddy 125 is knocking but I can't locate the sound it sounds like it's internal and not the clutch but I'm not sure. Also it's sputtering . Starts right up and I can almost reach max mph maybe a loss of 5-10 mph almost seems electrical. Please help. It's a 2007 Genuine Buddy 125 cc 4 stroke

To track down sound and isolate for trouble shooting With motor idling Take a screw driver Put the handle on your ear and the metal tip on the case Start at the very back of the transmission and work forward to the motor . Where the Noise is the loudest is the area to dial in on .

U can also take the belt and variater off just put the outer drive face in so u can start it and eliminate the cvt all together as long as u can get noise to happen standing still if not screw driver trick works well but sometimes noise travels but if not cvt it's not much work to pull the head and cylinder and inspect for piston slap or rod bearing play

If it's anything in the crank case either u will have to replace the crank shaft or the engine if u replace the crank I'd be putting a cylinder and piston also. The engine ass is not hard to change the crank requires a bit more work there's videos but it requires a lot more assembly and the crank bearings are a press fit into case u can put crank in freezer for 6 hrs than heat case lightly with a burn o matic than drop crank in from freezer the hot cold expansion allows the bearings to drop in stock Cranks are about 50 y can get a stroker crank for 180 a complete stock engine is around 350

It almost sounds like it could be my valves too but I'm pretty sure I got them at the right Gap which would be 0.08 in and out I hope that's correct

Not exactly sure what the spec is on the 125 bit the qmb 50cc is .004 to .005 and I assume u know it's got to be on tdc and cold engine when u do it. If u have a compression tester I'd do that it's easy enough and u will know for sure engine is capable of running

Valves usually gives a tapping noise rather than a knocking usually a knocking sound is something with crank or piston

Ok so I figured out it's my crankshaft bearing. I've decided to replace the whole crankshaft. Does any body have any tips. Ive gotta split my engine. Is there other things I'll need besides the tools that I'll be needing, i.e. gasket seals etc. Any feed back would awesome.

Just put a stroker crank in mine tonight. I bought a ssp-g engine gasket set from ncy store it can't hurt to get a set diff bearings and I also got a naraku engine seal set which is the round seals the two gasket sets are a must and to be honest I'd be doing a cylinder and piston also. U are gonna have to do the hot cold method to install the crank into the case. The bearings are a press fit in the cases they do not just slip in do not hammer the crank into the cases. Put crank in freezer for 5 hrs. Get both case half's cleaned and ready take the long side of case and heat it lightly with a burnomatic tourch where the bearing seat is. Don't heat it too much ur not looking for cherry red just got. Slide ur timing chain in and make sure it's pushed back enough to fit the gear on the crank while the case is still hot drop crank in right out of freezer it will drop right in. Make sure ur chain is good and not stuck. Put ur gasket and heat the other case half same way and it will slide right together. Leave the round seals out till after u done heating and have cases bolted together. There's videos on doing this you tube. I use copper gasket spray in the gaskets and also on the head gasket.
