I'm mostly just curious. Here's a link to a speed test if you'd like to share even more info. speakeasy.net/speedtest/I'm on Comcast Cable, standard service. Download Speed: 22098 kbps (2762.3 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 4153 kbps (519.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

Last Result: Download Speed: 30747 kbps (3843.4 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 19917 kbps (2489.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
(fiber optic, network currently busy with downloads/uploads)
I used to be connected with a bit of string, that you could "wet" when you had a hot download, but everybody laughed at me.
With these speeds, unless I set limits, it is quite easy to flood my antique computers with too much incoming.

Wonder if 190mech can build a pipe for your modem? ;D Seriously though, that's enough to get the job done well for surfing and whatever. I'm glad to see no dial up so far. Dial up users probably hate my threads.

We don't have cable outisde of major cities, and it's damn expensive. All we have a choice of is 56k (not that anybody uses it!) or good old 8meg max (if you're very lucky) copper cable broadband. Fiber optic's on it's way though, I should get it next year.

I read that with a cable connection you get slower speeds if a lot of people in your block are using the web at the same time but I asked a cable repairman if that was true and he told me that they actually have more capacity available than the current load so I'm not sure what to believe.
