Ahhh.... it all started with a call from one of the drivers. he was complaining that the truck was shaking real bad and couldn't get past about 35mph. ehh no big deal i thought to myself its just dropped a cylinder probably just a stuck injector (diesel). well i was in the middle of swapping out a trans. in a Malibu and didn't have time to get to it right then and there so it goes to the local ford dealership (big mistake) ford replaces an injector and a rocker arm asy. i go to pick it up and its still in limp mode and now they want 17 thousand dollars to put a new engine in it :jaw: saying the stuck injector burned a hole in the piston. lunch break is over so ill continue in a couple hours but in the mean time look at this pic and tell me what looks wrong

The inside of the engine looks like it was coated in BBQ sauce and char-grilled. Never knew they used arched pushrods. :stumped: lol

Looks to me like someone is using the wrong engine.... I've never seen a better candidate for a 3-53 swap

Looks to me like someone is using the wrong engine.... I've never seen a better candidate for a 3-53 swap

:dunno: never had to deal with anything Detroit before but the 6.4 is not as bad of an engine as everybody makes it seem though. i mean its definitely no 7.3 but its still a hell of a lot better then the 6.0.... or even Chevy's lb7 or lly duramax pos

needless to say, once i got the head off there was no whole in the piston. in fact, the cylinder bores still have a perfect crosshatch on 'em. the camera just walked out the door though so no pics till tomorrow

yeah, i got lucky. it went from a complete rebuild to just a top end

well there hasn't been much progress lately, mainly from parts being on back order or the wrong parts showing up. got the heads put back on with some arp head studs and the injectors/valve train in the rocker box on the left head. got the im back on and most of the acc drive is put back together.considering that i wont get any parts till atleast monday, I'm thinking by next Wednesday it'll be back on the road :nana:

Just wanted to say thanks for posting so many pics. A friend of mine had an injector go on his diesel a while back and he told me what the dealer charged. I was like "holy $#!+". I've never messed with anything diesel, so now I'm seeing it's quite a different story than the injectors I'm used to.
