I'm hoping someone can help me. I have an 02 Bugeye Zuma and I want to install a different variator so I can put my electric start back on. I remember reading in this forum recently that someone said maybe TP or Athena now have performance variators which electric start can be maintained? My bug starts easily enough but I'm a 5' girl and I just want the ease of ES. It has an older version (2003) Malossi OR kit complete with torque converter, contra spring, and variator. I have the e-start parts...just looking for a larger diameter half pulley so it's comparable to existing set up.

What is the OD of the multivar? I didn't think any Malossi variators would work with electric start??

Probably anything that gives you a similar size to the OR kit, will require no electric start unfortunately. The multivar is designed as a direct replacement, like the Polini hi speed. You would be able to use the electric boot, but lose the benefits of an over range setup. You would have to decide what was more important. There is quite a lot of choice. www.scootertuning.ca/en/79-variators

Thank you Zino for the information on the 97mm variator. I bought all the electric start components and the new variator and everything works perfect. I was able to keep the same belt and my scoot doesn’t feel like I’ve lost any top end, I’m still at 52 mph. The Malossi over range kit I have had the 99 mm variator but no room for the electric start. I kept same roller weight also, no issues with extra weight on the crank. Thanks again!
