Hey guys! So, I want to upgrade the stock variator of my Zip SP Mk1. I've been searching and I came to these 2 variator kits: Multivar 2000 Multivar MHR Team 2 Well, the main differences between both, are: -Contra Spring White (Mvar 2000) vs Purple (MHR); -16x13 rollers (Mvar 2000) vs 19x15.5 (MHR); -Different half-pulley (Ø 20x14,8x38,4 mm - Mvar 2000) vs (Ø 22X14,8X49 mm - MHR); Considering this, can I fit the MHR, and it will be worth, considering that I am stock atm, but I will upgrade to a BBK in the future? Thanks

I am not familiar with these variators for the Zip application, but I have used both on minarelli engines.
The multivar is to replace the stock system but still utilizes the original rear pulley and stock belt. The MHR variator is oversized and is designed to be used with an oversized rear puller and longer/wider belt.

So, it won't work with the OEM rear pulley...Well, I wasn't expecting to change the rear pulley atm, but that may help me considering the Multivar 2000. What's your thoughts on both variators btw?

Yes, just like that. Do you think it will fit well, even on a stock engine? I'm wondering, because I have in mind going for the Top Performances Due Plus + Polini CP19mm + Yasuni C16. So I don't know if the MHR won't be a bit overkill, once it was designed for Race BBK.

I run the MHR on my Typhoon with a DR 70 and Yasuni R and it feels great. I use a white Malossi contra and the stock rollers which are around 6.3 grams and I top out at 10,000 rpm. I have the full aluminum overrange kit so my rear pulley and belt is different as well though. The boss on the MHR is slightly larger diameter than stock so a stock belt might not sit as high in the back at idle but it should be close enough. I never ran the multivar on mine so I can’t compare but I have seen many others online use the the multivar on these ET2 engines with some high rpm setups just fine as well. I don’t plan on going to a higher rpm setup so i could have saved money and just did the multivar but I have a bad habit of wanting to upgrade if I know something better exist so I went for the full overrange kit out the gate and it runs great so I’m happy with it.

I found a link here. www.racing-planet.co.uk/variator-malossi-multivar-piaggio-p-201897-1.html#.YQwOIWjTU1IIt says: "The Malossi MHR TEAM II variator can also be used with a smaller original converter (older vehicle model years). However, the increase in speed due to the overrange effect cannot be fully catched. To be on the safe side, please measure the diameter of the installed original converter if only the variator is to be used. " The converter is your torque drive.
