I’m brand new to these mopeds but I’m a snowmobile guy so I have a good idea of how everything works but not sure where to start. My dad gave my this bike and it has 5600 mikes on it untouched, stock original everything. It takes off decent to about 10-12 mph the rpm drops a little and it only gets to about 19-20 mph. The rpm never recovers to what it is from 0-10. Looking for an idea of where to start? Thanks!

For starters, with 5600 miles on it I'd want to see the condition of the variator rollers. Easy enough job.

Probably due a full CVT service. I would change the belt and rollers if in any doubt. They are cheap and relatively straightforward to replace.

As stated the cvt is a good place to start. Some other things to check are valve adjustment, idk the history of the bike but bad gas from sitting, along with cleaning the carb/jets,and also check the air filter for restrictions especially if the bikes been sitting I've had rodent's nesting in the filter housing and associated air tubes restricting air flow

Parts for scooters is great so is ncy store, racing planet is good also but there stock/shipping isn't as good as parts for scooters or ncy store. As for brands I prefer bando belts and variator and clutch any name brand will do I only use naraku variator's but naraku,ssp-g,ncy,tfc,Dr pulley all are good. I prefer sliders over rollers as they shift better/smoother and last way longer and generally give better performance but the weight that works in rollers u usually need about a gram heavier in sliders so sometimes it's better to tune with rollers bc there cheaper than get one or two sets of sliders in same weight and one gram heavier but they last way longer than rollers. I wear rollers out quickly I've had same set of sliders for about 2500 miles now I would have replaced my rollers at least twice already and my sliders show no wear at all

I would like to replace all three, will a cone filter be alright? What about jetting when changing to a cone?

I was going to say that it is very likely a carburetor issue.
If you're going with a cone filter, just buy a performance carb/cone filter combo The carb will come with a bigger jet. And it's just easier to replace a $20 carb as to clean it.

Honestly, I just buy off of ebay and Amazon, and just look for fast shipping from The US I'll find one that I would buy, and posy a link. One minute. Oh, and you still need a new belt, and to go over the CVT

I've had nothing but trouble with the combos u can get on Amazon for 30 bucks. I suggest going on pfs website and getting a decent carb from there along with a uni pod filter and a few sizes bigger main jets in a name brand. Any of the carbs pfs sells are decent I prefer naraku but there like 70 bucks just for the carb

Now if u wanna really get some mid range power get u a oko 21mm flat slide carb a uni pod filter and a pwk throttle cable and u will need smaller main jets with that carb and they take a different style jet but man the difference in throttle response and mid power is incredible for real. The whole set up should run u about 120 bucks but we'll we'll worth it imo it will go from feeling like a slug to pretty much popping wheelies. If u decide to go that route I run a 50mm high compression piston and a stroker crank and I went from a 105 main in a cvk style carb to a 88 main in the flat slide so I would assume u would need around 78 to 85 main in a stock cylinder but the difference is night and day

I will second the OKO flat slide carb Man, what a difference. I have a 52mm big bore and big valve head. I just put a 26mm Nibbi power jet flat slide on. I could never run a CVK carb again

I'll never run another scooter with anything but a flat slide man I see all these threads and posts about where to find a true 20mm cvk carb and if it really is a true 20mm. Imo that's all a waste of time, effort and money how many 30 dollar carbs u gonna buy looking for a real 20mm when in reality even if u get a 20mm cvk it's not gonna do half of what a flat slide does. U got a 50mm airsal piston and a stroker crank with a 21mm oko I've recently just broke over 60mph in flat ground right now in a cooler day I'm keeping 60 to 61 mph flat no wind and I've seen 66 slight down hill and I'm doing 0 to 40 mph in between 9 and 10 seconds and I believe I can shave a second off that I'm still working on tuning the cvt it's not where I want it yet I don't believe I'd even be close to that with a cvk idc what size or brand. Certainly not the 0 to 40 maby close to same top speed. My next thing I want to do is a 52 mm cylinder with a Forged piston and u wanna juice it I'm gonna try to use the 100 dollar dry nitrous kit from Amazon but I'm gonna make it into a wet system to add some extra fuel with the nitrous 😁. Probably gonna get a cheap 52mm kit from Amazon to experiment with at first once I dial it in I'm going with the naraku 52mm cylinder and piston 🤔 I guess we'll see how that works lol fingers crossed 😂
