You have some belt slap there . What belt did you put on ? You may have to reshim the front pulley to tighten up the belt .
Very important
Did you slsck the belt before tightening the variator nut ?
Please take a close up picture without the scooter running too make sure you have not messed up the threads .

I purchased a stock belt. However I did not put it on myself. I am at college and don't have the tools to take off the front pulley so I gave it to a scooter shop who did it for me. Therefore, I am not sure if they slacked the belt. Do you believe the slapping is creating the noise? I do recall the guy telling me about taking out a washer ring. Maybe that is also the reason it is sometimes dying in idle and taking off very slow because the belt sits too high now. I also uploaded another video where I accelerate slightly: imgur.com/a/dWmufRAHere is a picture of it not running

All the possible fixes are going to require the tools that take off the variator nut that cause that rattling sound .
Belt Slap would require using a different shim on the end of the drive boss. It also could be Roller weights that are worn and rattling .
The belt does tighten up when you accelerate and the sound is louder at lower speed so My feeling is belt slap is rattling the variator.

Okay thank you very much for your help! I will try to get the shimming right and fix the belt slap. It might take a bit but I will keep you posted!

Hi, so I was able to open the variator and check it out. The rollers look good, they are smooth and have no edges. I also added two shim plates with each 0.5mm. I can feel the effect of those and the scooter takes of much quicker again, like normal. However the screeching noise is still there. I uploaded another video with open CVT. Also the plate behind the variator (not sure of the name, part of the crank?) has some room to move and I am not sure if that is supposed to be like that. I included that in the video. I followed some of your advice over the time and exchanged the spark plug and most recently also the belt. May I have the link to the correct belt please, 15mm? Mine is a 2003 Vino 50cc, running the stock belt. Thx

Lagrasta, if your running a stock belt and a stock transmission I would recommend you buy the Yamaha belt , it may " feel" expensive but no one makes the exact same size, a Yamaha belt will last for thousands of miles Geoff

Isn't 15mm thinner than stock? I'm not in need of a new belt, I'm looking to gain a little by going with a more narrow belt. I can't find a 15mm though.

You can look high and low,the Yamaha belt is 16mm but I have only ever had used O.E. stuff off old engines, all Yamaha measure 15mm in a used condition and I,ve put thousands of miles on them with no failures.
