rpm gauge is just a tuning tool mostly IT would help with checking the backing off throttle to check the main you can use the speedometer or gps .
The temp gauge would be for everyday safety To watch for temp spikes and to verify you are rich enough at each throttle position . Finding a main that peaks and levels off at under 350 degrees on a couple mile wide open run. On the needle 1/2 to 3/4 throttle you should be a notch cooler

Some notes: I wrapped the interface between the cylinder & the exhaust header with 2-3 layers of aluminum foil. After driving for a while, the foil would get a hole blasted through it indicating an air leak. I confirmed this by covering up that hole with thicker aluminum tape and seeing a decrease in peak RPM with my still rich jets. I guess my ebay knockoff leovince doesn't line up well... maybe it's the studs backing out. IDK but somethings up. I also had a buddy suggest replacing reeds. Not really sure but I've been monitoring temps.
Rear tire needs replaced so I'll replace the exhaust then.
As far as temps go. I need to wire my guage yet. Just have it in the helmet tub and touch the leads to a battery. Consistently seeing ~240*F about a min after getting in. So I'm probably near ~300 while riding at 3/4 throttle.
