Could be too much compression as Fox said, hopefully it's not another valve contact issue. If you're able to kick it over pretty well though and you're sure you have spark, check out fuel issues. Could try holding your hand over the carb's inlet to see if it'll start then or perhaps spraying a whiff of starting fluid or carb cleaner in there and see if it fires that way.

stumped as to what it can be it almost fired up a few times. it was getting spark and compression. I've drained the battery it seems could be a carb problem I guess but the carb itself is pretty new its the standard sized one not a larger carb. got some free time again tomorrow so I may as well stripe it back down and rule out any other things it could be while I'm at it.

okay its daylight and I've managed to fire her and she idled for about 45 seconds before dying, she will restart every kick but wont idle for long
guess its just carb adjustments its got a larger jet in in for the larger bore. if I can get her to idle for long enough to warm and set the mixtures =\
wont start off every kick now, got a friend coming round after work with his scooter gonna swap batteries.

All is well, she lives and breathes low end power is unreal but I'm still topping out at my old speed going to try heavier roller weights tomorrow. and maybe buy the 10% gear up kit

Great to hear you finally got her up and running! :thumb:
Check the color of the plug. Brown = good
Your top speed won't increase much if any because the gearing is the same and you have the small carb and stock head so you can only push so much air through there at once which limits performance as far as max RPM's. If you port the head or get a large valve head, bigger carb and a free flow exhaust then you get more air flow = more RPM's = faster but that equates to a lot of $$$. I think you can even port the intake elbow too.

checked my rollers today and found they have flat spots 4.5g thinking of getting some 6g rollers see if my rollers are too light. I am a very light person in weight.
fitted a free flow exhaust today too
might drop in a uni filter or something soon too running tad rich atm.

If you're just on the rich side, it'll probably end up too lean with a UNI.

hate the way stock air boxes look, if I do add in a uni I'll buy a jet pack and play around with different sizes.
Need to find somewhere in the UK that sells the posi crankcase breathers, or will a simple K&N style filter at end of a tube routed upwards work just as well?

Never tried a PCV on one of these, but the long tube uphill w/filter worked just fine for me.

Uni pods aren't very good in wet conditions. I removed the restrictor tube from inside the air box cover on a rich running 50cc cause it reduces the size of the inlet. It helped a little but it was still rich so I drilled a couple of holes in the cover for even more flow. I drilled it on top because I don't ride in the rain. You can drill it on the bottom and it will probably be okay in the rain. I started with one 3/4 inch hole and it was still a little rich so I drilled another and it was just right. It worked well. I gained 4 or 5 MPH. This is the scooter I drilled. I ran the vent tube up the frame and out the back at the splash guard with no filter as shown below. I drilled two holes about 15mm apart in the rear splash guard and ran a black zip tie through them to hold the end of the tube. I used 1/4 inch fuel line. Having it run uphill and then back down keeps the oil from coming out. Brent has a thread somewhere that shows a drilled air box cover on a 2 stroke with some inserts that go in the holes that make it look like it was made that way.

I found one seller in the UK price seems steep compared to the US ones you kindly linked Fox. wondering if I'd be best off paying high postage and a smaller flat fee for the part itself. really greatful for all your info and help Brent and Fox

Guess it depends how much difference there is in total cost and how quick you want your parts? Some international shipping is kinda quick and some is not at all.
