Hi guys, new to the site. I’m getting a Malossi RC One 94cc built for my 08 Aerox and I’m asking what problems others have encountered building the engine and fitting it to their scoots. Any info or opinions are appreciated. Thanks.
PS - What brand, weight gear oil and brand, type 2T oil is best to run on these engines.

Welcome! One of our members did a video series about the assembly of his RC-One. You may not need that since you said you're getting one built, but in case it's of use : www.youtube.com/watch?v=KV7GvRUsKiwMine's still in the boxes, but I plan to use the same gear oil that I use in all of my other small scoots. Mobil 1 75W90 synthetic gear lube. As for common problems; others here that are out using them can tell you those better. I rode member ryan_ott's and the biggest problem that I saw was trying to keep the front wheel on the ground if you take off hard. He has complained of it surprising him and making turning from stops or slow speed difficult, so be careful.

That first vid is quite detailed, will watch the rest. I saw in his description that some bolts, clips etc and missing in the package. You’d think this would all be included.
I’ll definitely be using a 75w-90 grade oil. I’ll check the Mobil one out.
Yeah I’ve heard and seen a few vids and the front wheel gets up easily. 😂

I agree that for the cost, everything should be there. Here's a list that Ryan posted of missing bits : 49ccscoot.proboards.com/post/406976/threadI checked gear cover bolts today. Looks like they should be M6x1.0x45. That's what I came up with, and then I saw that Piaggio bolts are that size so you could source your own or just buy replacements. Also, check everything over carefully when you unbox it. If you think the lack of fasteners and such is bad, wait till you find the metal flakes leftover on parts.

I’ll get the gear cover bolts and I’ll go over all the parts with the builder. Thanks for your help. I just finished a rc-one in a sr piaggo, parts that were needed are woodrift key, gear box bolts, starter gear off kick starter, make sure you give the cases a realy good going over, I found metal shaving by accident, quality control isn't what it used to be, but still a great motor, most use the 28mm dellorto to get up and running ,if your happy with that leave alone, im running bigger, if someone's building get it port matched there out quite a bit, I run a but heaver gear oil but it's hot were I live, iv got pics on motor same one just diffrent mounts, in builds sr rc-one, I went with a big inlet set up and use vforse 3 or 4 reeds, but if you haven't ridden any 2t that realy do pull, you will be more than happy, rember hp quoted by factory's is at crank not back wheel, I haven't finished jetting yet, iv been slack, lol good luck live to see how it goes

Hi Peter, thanks for the info. I see your posts on Custom Scooters Australia, I’ve seen you’ve been busy building yours. I’ll give everything a good looking over. I’ll tune it with the standard carb for now and for later I’ve got a bigger Malossi Bonneville intake and will most likely go to a Smartcarb, that’ll be about it.

Sounds good, the carb is realy the only thing they should have made bigger. But I think the 28mm dellorto is malossi beggiest carb thay put there name to, great to see more people doing this sort of set up, not to manny in my state that I know of ive seen one fro sale a year ago aerox full rc-one clean as new paint think he got $5500 so got money back for motor, lol but we don't do this to sell Hay good luck with it all ill keep a eye on your posts

I've seen a few times that guys say the carb is the only thing holding the engine back. I figured by the time I bought parts to build on the standard case I'd start to get close enough to the RC One. Yeah I won't sell now, I've poured in too much $$$ to turn back.

Really the biggest thing with rc-one cases is inlet set up but u can nearly replcate with a reverse carb set up, I use on my 132cc aerox and can use up to 35mm but im running a 30mm power jet, and if your useing all malossi race stuff, you would come close to a full rc-one set and with a bigger carb be just as quick,

As far as 2T oil, the best oil that i have used was Red Line racing oil.

I ended up getting Motul 800. I've never used it, just from pages, forums and research seemed to be the most popular for a top end 2T oil. Couldn't find the Road version, had to settle for the Offroad version. As far as gear oil, I went for Liquimoly 75w90 gear oil.

All that hp on a standard case! 😳 Lol yes and supriseing I haven't found any cracks or damage to cases but the 100cc aerox cases are thicker around mains and runs a 14mm piston pin so that's bigger than the rc-one with 13mm small end bearing, but ill say this it pulls like stick lol and im like you ive put so much into this build, and any part I go to add needs to be high end to match everything else, dam I spent $800 on digital clock I did buy the malossi heat controlerfor the pump as well and have a/f mixtur meter gage and may put on egt gage have all the parts, im getting lazy and slowed down on build, just getting into spraying it, so yours will most likely be finished befor me, then a have a set of rc-one cases to go into a aerox I have as well, so its like wow nearly one down 1 to go staring to think 2 is to much with both bikes owning 18k getting out of hand. But Hay a hole lot of fun to ride and freak people out at lights

I run 80/140 gear oil but very hot were I live never need a choke to start bike even in winter, but im thinking to go lower and synthetic, but I found I have no gear noise at all even with new stright cut gears
